The next morning, Beau rode with Bella to school.

His sister seemed a bit surprised when he'd asked to ride with her, since every time Beau had the ability to walk to school, he always took it. Luckily, she didn't dwell on his sudden change in stance on his way of transportation and had smiled at him as she'd started the engine of her truck.

Beau waited until they were a few miles towards school before speaking. "Hey, Bella?"

His sister hummed slightly in acknowledgement. "Yes, Beau?"

"Do you ever notice anything off about the Cullens?" He decided to slip into the questions easily; wading into the pool instead of just jumping in.

Bella frowned softly. "Not really. Why?"

"Really?" Beau asked, trying to keep accusation out of his tone. "Nothing weird at all?"

"Your kind of weird or just weird?" Bella asked, referring to Beau's strange sighting ever since they'd moved to Forks.

The bloody mess that made up the Cullens, the bruises on Bella's arms; plus the strange burn marks and cuts on the other players on the football field, which Bella had no knowledge of.

"Weird in general." Beau replied noting that they were a few miles away from their high school's turn.

"Not that I can remember." Something in Bella's tone was off, and Beau gripped onto it.

"I met Jacob when dad and I went on our fishing trip," Beau starts, and pretends that he doesn't see Bella pause beside him for a few seconds. "He told me that he met you on the beach and you guys talked."

"Yeah. And?" Bella questioned, now on edge and curious.

Beau paused for a few seconds, before replying, "Did he ever mention The Cold Ones to you?"

Bella's react was all the answer he needed. "Beau-"

"How long have you known?" Beau asked, cutting her off.

Pressing her lips together, Bella turned into the high school's parking lot. Her eyes trying to find a parking space before she could answer Beau's question.

"Bella." Beau pushed, voice icy.

"A while." Bella replied, parking the car. "I've known for a while."

"How long is a while?"

Bella turned in her drivers seat to look at him. Her face was scared, like she was afraid to say how long she'd actually kept the secret to herself. "A week at the most."

The first emotion that wafted into Beau was anger. Blinding anger that made him want to scream. The second emotion was strongly identified as hurt. A small ache that made the backs of his eyes burn and his eyelids blink to keep himself from crying.

"Oh." Was all he could make out. His voice was choked, and Bella's face seemed to break more. The anger in Beau told him that he should be glad that Bella felt bad; but the older sibling instinct kicked in a few seconds afterwards to soothe his anger and make him focus on Bella's face once more.

"Is Edward..." Beau trailed off, not wanting to say the word.

"Yes," Bella replied, and her voice was thick with emotion.

Beau sucked in a heavy breath and lifted his eyes to meet hers. Bella's face was so much like their mothers, Beau almost felt silly being mad at her. If Bella was anything like their mother, Beau knew that she would always act without thinking. Gladly, Bella's reflection to their mother stopped at the facial attributes. Meaning that Bella was like himself and Charlie; which meant that she had over analyzed the situation before coming to a conclusion.
