"So, do you know how to play baseball?"

Beau looked up from the laces of his shoes, his brown eyes connecting with Alice's golden ones. Alice was smiling gently at him, like she didn't want to scare him off by talking to him.

"I know how to play, I'm just not very good," Beau replies, giving Alice a warm smile. Beside him, Rosalie is tense, like she's expecting Alice to try and do something.

"Then we have to go to your football games sometime," Alice states, and Rosalie opens her mouth to reply but the pixie vampire is already beating her to the punch. "Goodness Rosalie, you aren't planning on just keeping him to yourself, are you?"

Rosalie frowned, two tiny wrinkles forming in between her eyebrows. "No, but normally the person is supposed to invite you to their games."

"When have I ever been normal?" Alice asks, not phased by Rosalie's words. Then, Alice is turning back towards Beau. "Do you mind if Jasper and I tag along with Rosalie to one of your games?"

"Ali-"

"Sure, you can," Beau replies, and Rosalie's eyes latch onto the side of his face. Beau fights a blush, and continues to look at Alice. "Just make sure not to do anything to embarrass me."

Alice's laugh is whimsical. "So no signs then?"

"Please don't," Beau says, and Alice laughs once more.

"I like him Rose." Alice says, turning and giving Rosalie a meaningful look. She's then turning and waltzing away towards Jasper on ballet dancer legs.

"Now you've done it," Rosalie says, and she doesn't seem annoyed like she had when Alice was near. Beau watches as Rosalie turns her body away from his side so that she's standing in front of him. All "5,3" inches of her. "You're enabling her addiction."

"Her addiction?"

"Her addiction to making Edward and I's lives harder," Rosalie says, and then she's smiling softly.

Something inside of Beau relaxes at Rosalie's smile. It was the kind of smile that people wrote stories about and the fact that it was directed at him was enough to make his lungs collapse.

"She likes me," Beau replied, a bit smug.

"Alice likes Bella too," Rosalie says, and something dark flashes in her eyes when she says Bella's name. Like the name is a reminder of something terrible.

Opening his mouth, Beau is cut off by Esme's voice.

"Edward, was that you we heard?"

Lifting his eyes, Beau watches as Bella and Edward made their way towards their small group on the field a few miles away from the Cullen's house. Bella was dressed much like he was, in a raincoat, a thermal shirt, jeans, and gloves.

"Bella was being un-intentionally funny," Edward replied, his arm gently ghosting along Bella's waist. Beau's body stiffened, and as if sensing his change in stature, Rosalie was grabbing onto his bicep and squeezing gently.

"Well, your late," Alice said, giving Edward a slight un-impressed look. "It's time."

"Sorry," Edward replied, and by the grin on his face, he didn't seem sorry at all.

A crack of thunder erupted into the sky, flickering around them like someone was turning on and off a light switch. Jumping slightly at the sound, Beau heard Rosalie gently laugh at his startled expression.

"Are you afraid of thunder?" She asked, tone a bit serious.

"No," Beau replied, looking down at the blonde who was clinging to his bicep.

Rosalie was gazing up at him, waiting for the rest of his sentence but Beau didn't bother to say anything else. Slowly, Rosalie's once small smile was broadening into a bigger one as if sensing that he wasn't going to continue because she's distracted him.
