You're My Friend (NagiKae)

Kayano looked at the table next to hers, the one that belonged to her friend and crush, Nagisa. Kayano sat at her own table and wondered where her androgynous classmate was.

Kayano got excited when her eyes landed on a blue-haired boy walking to her.

"Good morning, Kayano!" He said, putting his bag on the hook and sitting at his desk.

"Good morning, Nagisa!" She replied happily. She was getting her things out for their first subject when Nagisa suggested they go out together after school.

"H-Huh? Are you sure? You wanna hang out with me?" Kayano started to stutter as her mind started filling up with fantasies of going on dates with Nagisa.

"Of course. You're my friend, Kayano," Ouch. That hurts. That REALLY hurts. "Why wouldn't I wanna hang out with you?" He asked, not realizing how his statement hurt her.

"N-No, it's nothing," She murmured. Why does being called a friend hurt so much?

Of course, what was she thinking? They've been doing the exact same thing for the past year.

The rest of the day went by, and school finally ended. The two teens left the school building and started going down the mountain.

"Hey, Kayano?"

"Yeah?" She looked over at him in confusion, only to find him looking back at her with a serious expression.

"What if...what if I told you that I'm in love with someone?" Kayano froze in her tracks.

What? Huh? Nagisa...loves...someone? Someone...that's not me? But...I...

She clenched on tightly to her bag and replied shakily,"Then...I-I'd say...you...YOU IDIOT!" She ran away at full speed.

"Wait! Kayano!" Nagisa started to chase her but she turned and ran in the opposite direction.

She ran and ran, wanting to escape from the pain of Nagisa's statement. She didn't want to acknowledge it. The pain is too unbearable.

"STUPID NAGI-" Kayano was interrupted when she slipped on a rock and fell down the mountain. She screamed as she tumbled and landed on the rough ground with a loud thud. She laid there, trying to move her limbs. Everything hurts. Kayano's vision became blurry when she struggled to get up.

"Kayano? Kayano?!" She could hear Nagisa calling her name.

Huh? Nagisa...

Nagisa finally reached Kayano, feeling worried because he heard her screaming. His worry increased at the sight of Kayano sitting on the ground, holding her head in her hands.

"Kayano? Are you okay?!" He crouched beside her. Huh? Why is she covering her face? Nagisa tried to pry her hands away from her face.

She pushed him away. "NO!"

Nagisa's chest started to hurt a little. "I need to make sure you're okay. That was a big fall, you know." He tried again. This time, Kayano stopped trying and Nagisa easily took her hands away from her face.

He froze. His friend's face was covered in dirt, shallow cuts, and bits of grass. But that wasn't what caught his attention.

He focused on the clear streams running down her cheeks. On her thin quivering lips that are trying not to make sobbing sounds. On the hazel irises in her red puffy eyes.

Something stirred inside of Nagisa. Something he couldn't identify. He wasn't sure what it was.

"K-Kayano..." Nagisa whispered as she looked up at him.

"Just how dense are you, Nagisa? How can you not see? You know, I've dropped some pretty big hints but you don't get it. Do I need to spell it out for you?!" Kayano exclaimed.

"Huh?" Nagisa looked at Kayano with confusion, still not able to grasp the situation. "What are you talking about?"

Kayano's face started turning red with anger. Without thinking, she held Nagisa's head with both hands and kissed him. Nagisa was shocked to feel her lips on his. He returned the kiss. After a while, they finally parted. Kayano looked up at him in embarrassment, with her cheeks turning red.

"Y-You get it know, r-right?" She mumbled.

Nagisa stared at her with a blank face. Suddenly, he gave her a big grin, making her heart beat even faster than it already was.

"I get it. Now, we should get going. I think you're okay now. We have a date after school, remember?" Nagisa stood up and held his hand out to Kayano.

Her eyebrows furrowed and she started at him in disbelief. "W-Wait, a d-d-date?! B-but-"

"You can't expect us to go as friends anymore!" He explained. Despite her hurting legs, she took Nagisa's hand. Together, the two headed out for their first date.

But what they didn't know was that a certain group of people were watching the whole thing.

"Nurufufufu, great job, Kayano-san! Now, I must document all of this right away before I forget." Korosensei quickly got out a paper and pen and wrote a 2000 page book regarding every single detail about Nagisa and Kayano's exchange.

"Okay, Korosensei. Hey, can we put the pictures we took in the book?" Nakamura Rio and Akabane Karma had also accompanied Korosensei. They brought cameras, too.

"Of course!"

Yeah, this won't turn out well.

It took quite a while before I could think of a story, and I'm not that proud of this one. Oh well, I hope you guys like it.
