THE HEAVY DOORS of the dungeon opened early in the morning, and not only Nova and Loki, but every other prisoner in their bleak cells was startled by the familiar clinking of those nasty chains and the remorseless orders to move bouncing off of the stone walls. With barely a wink of sleep behind her, Nova didn't hesitate to steer her interest to the dim pathway between each side of the dungeon and crawl closer to the front window to catch a glimpse of the new inmate — except it wasn't one, but several criminals walked by multiple guards towards their new homes.

Unable to hold back a dark chuckle, she glanced at Loki, who had done a good job of keeping Nova in anticipation after proposing an adventure without any further detail. Both of them had been escorted by themselves, and while the thought of being far too dangerous to be let near any other prisoners should have surged something regretful in Nova's chest, she only grinned in the pride of being unofficially dubbed as a superior villain.

"They continue to bring us new friends. How thoughtful", Loki chimed in sarcastically, his voice utterly uninterested in the brutes being led to their new cells, and mimicking the same tone with her roll of eyes, Nova tilted her head to him.

"Opposite, opposite", she countered with her arms crossing over her chest, and before he could say a word, she was narrowing her stare and shooting him a taunting smile. "The illusion of mommy dearest wasn't enough?" she chose her words with the intention to stab him where he had stabbed her with the mention of Olympia, Loki's magic having entertained her through the hours of the night even when he hadn't hoped to do so. Supposing that the Queen of Asgard meant a great deal to him, only to now be separated from her, Nova didn't hesitate to rub salt in his wounds with the bitter tone.

Rather than being hurt by her sharp edges, though, Loki's own lips curled higher. "Now, there's the Nova I knew to be in there somewhere", he replied, almost too smooth and effortlessly giving out his plan to draw out the vengeful woman she had been holding back.

Unsure whether to be flattered or offended that he had gotten under her skin so easily, Nova chewed on her lip and turned away from him, facing the line of prisoners and following how they were put in groups inside the cell — yet another wave of success washed over her at the realization that she hadn't been paired up with anyone, and neither had Loki. The God of Mischief, on the other hand, didn't stray from keeping his eyes fixated on her, all the while trying to be careful, not letting his heart dip to the wrong side of the line he was dancing on. He did always appreciate a risk, but sometimes the odds were not in his favor.

"We should not discuss our plan just yet", he piped up eventually, loud enough for Nova to hear but she doubted the suave wording caught anyone else's attention. "Simply too many ears", he added with an aimless gesture at the buzzing around them, and at last, Nova met his stare, only for a shiver to crawl down her spine and her stomach to make an uncomfortable flip at the terrifying warmth ducking into her chest. She couldn't help it, but she also couldn't consider the possibility of not being cold and hard throughout, after all.
