"Andy, get the door!" Jake yelled from the kitchen.
I sighed and got up off the couch. "You are closer to the door than I am you know?"
He smiled at me as I grabbed the doorknob. "Not anymore."
I glared at him. Sometimes I wonder who the older sibling is. He's so freaking immature and lazy. I should have sold him in a yardsale when I had the chance.
I opened the door and got a surprise.
"What are you doing here?"
Cassie stared at me emotionlessly. "Where's your brother?"
"Why do you want to know?"
"Because I want to give him something." She said. She was aggravated with me, but at this point, I didn't care. She deserved to be annoyed.
"I'll give it to him for you." I said, holding out my hand.
She rolled her eyes. "Andy, I really don't want things to be bad between us, so please just let me give this to Jake and I'll leave him alone, and forget everything that's happened between us."
"He's actually in a good mood today Cassie, if he sees you it will be gone."
"Andy just let m-"
"Who's at the door sis?" Jake asked, walking around me to see for himself.
I closed my eyes. He's going to go back to grumpy Jake that snaps at everyone, and never smiles. I looked up at him and saw the small glint of light that had come back to his eyes fade. He was staring at the girl he loves, but could never have. It broke my heart just watching him.
"Um hi." Cassie said softly. Why is she trying to be gentle now? She's already shattered his heart. She reached into her bag and pulled out a folded up shirt. "I just...wanted to give you this."
He looked at the shirt in her hand and then back at her face. "I told you to keep it."
"Well I thought you would want it back, considering the circumstances."
He shook his head. "I don't want it. It's yours."
"Well I don't want it either!" She yelled.
"Yes you do," He stepped closer to her, making her breath catch. I felt like I should go away, but it was too late. He was already talking. "I know you want it. I know you want me, and you will come running back to me as soon as that asshole breaks your heart."
She glared at him. "No, I won't. I'm ready for a real relationship, not a sex friend."
"Maybe I am too." His voice was husky.
Her eyes got wide in surprise. I knew she wasn't expecting that. I also knew I shouldn't be standing here. "What do you mean?"
He smirked. "When you figure it out, give me a call. Until then, keep the shirt."
I watched him step away from a speechless Cassie with a satisfied look on his face. I have to admit, I'm proud of my brother.
He turned and started to walk away, but stopped when a car pulled into our driveway. A nice car. A dark blue Ferrari kind of car. Trevor's car. Oh no.
Trevor got out of the car and waved at me. I smiled and waved back. Why is he here?
"Are you two dating yet?" Cassie asked.
"Yet? There's a yet? As in you're going to be dating?" Jake asked.
"Um I don't know. Maybe." I was really uncomfortable. When Trevor was within arms length I grabbed his arm and pulled him inside, passed Jake. The last thing I need is him on my case.
