"Ma'am, some Champagne?", the Air-hostess with the fake smile, asked Debbie holding an expensive looking bottle.

Debbie startled, looked up from the magaine she was reading. She turned her head sideways to look at the stranger sitting beside her, still looking out of the window, his eyes distant. She was always afraid of flights and avoided them as much as possible. Being a nervous flyer, she was very chatty during the flights and the fact that the man sitting next to her was behaving as if she isn't visible, didn't help her much.

Then she turned back to the air-hostess. "Huh.. Oh! OH.. yes of course, why not??", Debbie chuckled nervously.  Wow, flying business class has its perks! Champagne?? and that too such an expensive brand? this is going to be one fun flight... :) some champagne will definitely soothe your nerves.

The air-hostess poured the drink in the stylish glass and handed it to Debbie. "And you sir? some champagne?"

The man turned around, slowly and asked the Air-hostess (her name was Andrea, Debbie saw her name-tag, Andrea-the-fake-smile), "Sorry you were saying something?"

The look on Andrea's face, made Debbie laugh but she turned it into a cough. "Excuse me!", Debbie said looking down, and taking a sip from her drink.

Andrea shot her a dirty look and then turned to the stranger, speaking in her mock polite voice, "would you like some champagne sir?"

"No thank you! Just some water, please", the man spoke in his polished accent.

Wow, he talks like some big business man! but why soo moody?? Debbie thought.

"very well sir! Still or Sparkling?", Andrea asked.

What's the difference between the two? I never understood it! Debbie thought.

"Sparkling.", the man said and turned to face the window again.

What is there outside? at 19000 feet above sea level... I swear I'll get the window inspected by the FBI when we land....

"fine sir! I'll be back with a bottle of sparkling water", the air-hostess turned and went away.

Debbie went back to her magazine, but her gaze fell on the emergency-instructions written behind the seat, in front of her. Huh, just to scare people! she thought.

Just then, the plane gave a big jolt.

"what the fudge?", Debbie blurted out. Several heads turned to look at her. Their faces equally panicked but chiding her to use foul language in their so - called high-class presence.

Then she realized, those people weren't looking at her because she sweared, but because she said Fudge instead of you-know-what. Debbie mentally kicked herself. Her habit of using tweaked cuss words in front of her nephews and nieces, made her look like a clown everytime she used them in public. Grow up, Debbie!!

Before she could react, the plane shook violently again. Debbie gulped. She was a nervous flyer but this was making her nauseous. People around her started screaming and she heard one old woman reciting Hail Mary...

OMG.. this is real.. it's happening.. I'm going to die! I'm going to die without doing anything in life.. OH MY GOD!

The plane shook again and Debbie tightly grabbed the arm-rest in between her seat and the stranger's. She felt warm flesh instead of the velvet-y cushioned arm-rest. Confused, she looked up at the stranger, he was holding the arm-rest as tightly as Debbie was. He also looked uncomfortable, but was still somewhat calm, unlike Debbie who was freaking out. Then she looked down at her hand on the arm-rest, her fingers dug deep into the man's hand, clutching them tightly. She looked up at the stranger, his beautiful blue-green eyes, which were oddly calm. Debbie felt tingly sensations all over her body. He may well be the last person I see in my life, before my body parts will be found scattered in some field along with the plane debris. Debbie shivered with fright.
