Lectures were boring.
Especially so, if you couldn't even focus on a single word coming out of the lecturer's mouth. Alex hadn't come to class, meaning I couldn't even rely on him to get notes or a summary of the lesson. I didn't really know anyone else in the class well enough to get a summary from them either.
Unashamedly all I was thinking of was Vic. I used that hour of a lecture to start siphoning through my thoughts about him. They were all jumbled up and confused. I wasn't gay, there was no way I was. I had never ever shown an interest in a guy before.
But then again, I'd hardly shown an interest in girls either. Sure I found some girls pretty, but as I looked around the lecture room I found a couple of boys strike my eye too. This was insane, I didn't even know Vic that well.
But even as that thought crossed my mind I realised how untrue it was. Sure I didn't know everything about him, but I did know a lot. The month and a half we had spent together had made us... well friends? I wasn't sure.
He was always flirting with me, calling me names and teasing me when I blushed. I didn't know if I was just feigning annoyance so that it would get him to tease me more because I actually just liked it.
I didn't know anything about his family but I knew him. He laughed in a way that his eyes lit up and the corners of his mouth crinkled.
He really did have pretty features in his face, maybe I liked them more than I should've.Maybe he just teased me as an act, just as a game he played. Maybe he had no interest in me whatsoever and as soon as he used me for what he needed I wouldn't see him again. Maybe we weren't friends at all, I was just what came with the job.
I looked down at the blank page in my book and up at everyone writing down things the lecturer was saying.
Maybe I liked Vic. Like actually properly liked him and maybe that would be my downfall. The sudden snap of books being shut and zippers being torn open forced me out of my thoughts. The lecture had ended and everyone was leaving. I didn't even know what today's topic was supposed to be.
I packed up and walked out with everyone like a mindless zombie. I passed through the corridors in a dull stupor, too focused in my own head to notice the people. That is, until someone grabbed my arm and pulled me to the side.
I looked up at Josh, confused. "Um hello?"
"You haven't opened my texts so I'm assuming you haven't read them," he said frantically.
"What's wrong?" I asked, slowly coming back to terms with reality.
"Well, I couldn't find Alex last night which made me freak the fuck out," Josh said in a rush. "But turns out you were right and he's staying with Brendon."
"Oh okay. Good he's safe then," I replied. "It's all a matter of time till this whole thing blows over-"
"That's the thing," Josh said interrupting me. "I don't think it will. Brendon and Justin are in a fight because they've both taken sides. Neither of them know the actual story and what's actually been going on."
"Ah, so we've started a civil war now," I said. Josh shook his head but let out a laugh anyway.
"Yeah got to choose which team you're on," Josh muttered leaning against the wall. "I haven't heard from Jack."
"And? So what?" I said anger towards Jack making my voice lash out more than I meant it to.
"I know we're mad at him right now," Josh mumbled. "But he wasn't in class today and he's still our friend which means I'm still going to worry."
