Best Friends are Forever.

Chapter 10

AJ was sitting at the table with a cup of coffee in front of her. The rings were gone from under her eyes, and she had color to her as well.  Jeff was leaning on the counter opening a beer. When Jason walked into the kitchen she looked up and smiled. "Oh good you made it. Tonight we are honored with finger food that Sally made and soda or you can have a beer that Jeff brought" As she mentioned the beer Jeff offered one to him.

Jason thought she sounded rushed but not like she wanted to get the words out but more like she couldn't keep them in. Looking at the cup of coffee in front of her he wondered just how many she had by now.

She seem to read his mind because she then said in the same rush “I have only had one cup and usually I am one of those people who has to have a cup just to wake up but because of the way I woke up and how quickly I had to move to deal with a situation I am now jittery." taking a breath she looked at everyone around her and said "by the way the couch is damp so if you want to sit on the floor I don't blame you. I did put down a comforter but I am not sure how well your tushy will be protected." Jason heard Sally chuckle behind him and saw Jeff out of the corner of his eyes trying to press his lips together to keep from laughing. He too was having a hard time.

AJ raised her eyebrow at them all.

Sally seemed to get herself under control first. "Jason brought a choice of movies tonight" She went on the name a comedy, a drama, an action, and a Horror/thriller. After some deliberation they all finally settled on the action due to remembering the previews it was also a comedy.

Taking plates full of food, they all filed into the living room Sally and AJ each took a side of the couch to use the arms to prop their plates. Jeff took the recliner. Jason opted for the floor with his back against the couch between the two women, and used the coffee table for his plate. Threw out the movie they laughed, comment, and provided commentary.  Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Halfway thru the movie a potty break was called by AJ claiming the coffee hand finally hit her. The movie resumed moments later after every one relieved themselves and grabbed an ice cream bar. When the credits rolled, AJ got up for another potty break and Jason took his plate into the kitchen to help start the cleanup. When he poked his head out of the kitchen to see if anyone was going to tell him what to do with the left over’s he found the living room empty. Assuming that Jeff and Sally also went to the bathroom, he went about the task of at least getting the trash out of the way.

After a few minutes AJ walked into the kitchen and stopped short when she realized that Jason was the only one in the room. Looking around she asked "Where are Jeff and Sally?"

Jason shrugged and said "I walked in here and when I went back out they were not in the living room I assumed they went to the bathroom as well."

Shaking her head she said "I was the only one upstairs and the only way to the half bath down here is threw the kitchen." after a moment’s thought she shrugged her shoulders and said "well that is odd. Oh well I guess we get stuck with the cleanup it looks like." 

She went to a cupboard and pulled out a neat stack for storage containers and they made quick work of putting away the food and cleaning up the remainder of the mess. Just as she was putting the last container into the fridge her cell phone singled a text. After finding her purse and extracting her phone she read the text she got from Sally. "Sorry, had to go" followed by a winking smiley face. Muttering to herself "Sneaky bitch I will get you back for that"

Jason was sitting on the counter across the room when his head shot up when he heard the word bitch and he looked over to where AJ was putting her phone back in her purse. "Is everything ok?"

Feeling a little exasperated with her friend AJ stiffly said "Yes, we got ditched for whatever reason I have no idea but I will strangle that blond bitch"
