"Zach, do you even know where we are going?" Desdemona whined from the back of the group. I had been ignoring her the whole way through the jungle and I wasn't going to let up now.

How did that ever become my sister? I mean I was just so cool and Desdemona was just a jerk. As I thought about it I think I phased out because it seemed like Nikki and Morgan were screaming my name.

"What!" I whipped around to see all of them taken captive by more harpies. Crap, was the last thing I thought before I was being thrown into the hard dirt floor. Claws gripped my arms, making me scream in pain.

I looked up to see Nicole with panic set in her eyes, she glanced at Nolen who was looking at her. He nodded and I couldn't have been more confused.

But that didn't matter because I was being lifted into the air; I could feel warm liquid dripping off my arms.

I heard Nicole scream and then a huge burst of light erupted; I was dropped to the ground by a screeching harpy. Desdemona lifted her arm into the sky and it instantly turned dark. A flash of lightening struck down one of the escaping harpies.

The last thing I saw was Nicole running towards me and then it all went black.

Halia's POV

I sat in the little house waiting on...well I wasn't sure what I was waiting on. In all truths I just wanted to know where I was and why this guy saved me. Don't get me wrong, I was flattered to have such an amazing guy save me from stupid mermaids, but I just want to know why he did it.

I shivered slightly, this place was cold and dark, but I didn't mind as long as he was with me. I know I should mind, being the daughter of Apollo, but I don't.

The bed shifted under Damien's weight as he sat down next to me.

"I know you want answers and well I do too," he lifted his head to look at me, "the reason that I saved you was well because I couldn't bare to see you die." He dropped his head.

I laughed softly, "You say that as if it's a bad thing."

He lifted his head to where his blue eyes were on mine, "But, it is,"

I could feel the hurt coursing through me, "How?" I managed in a small croak.

"Because, I am the one who causes death not prevents it. Halia, you were supposed to die yesterday, but you didn't all because I saved you. It wasn't supposed to be like this," Damien stood up and walked to a black bookshelf beside the bed.

Watching him, I was instantly saddened and confused, "Wait, you said you are the one who causes death? What does that mean?"

Damien sighed, "I...you ever hear about Death and how he helps Hades in the underworld by guarding Death's doors?" I nodded and he continued, "Well, I'm him. I am Death."
