"Y-you.. you." I began to get out of my trance of her initial entrance and focused. Erin left me, without so much as a goodbye, and never looked back. I had loved her, didn't she know that? She was one of the only people I had truly opened up to since Christina. My voice became hard, cold. "You." I got up and walked to the window, suddenly angry.
"DOES SOMEONE WANT TO TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON?!" Christina yelled.
"Liv, Liv... you know that I love you. Cor blimey, I love you." Erin tried to move towards me but I put a hand up in protest.
"You left me like I was nothing more than chopped liver!" I screamed, turning towards Erin again.
"I actually like chopped liver, you know..." Erin lapsed into her sexier lower voice and I couldn't prevent my body from reacting. A shiver ran through me as she hooked her fingers through the belt loops on my jeans and pulled me as close as she could to herself.
I gave up arguing when she grabbed my chin and began to--
"Eh, HMM!!"
Damn, I fell into another trance with Erin. She's another one of my kryptonites.
I promptly stepped back again and focused on Christina, after all, she was the initial reason that I came to the hospital in the first.
As I inched back to her hospital bed, bright with white sheets, I saw her face begin to soften from the anger she experienced because of interaction between Erin and I. She reached out one of her hands as far as it could go and I took it without hesitation.
Her eyes sparkled. "Who is she, Liv?" Her hand squeezed mine tighter.
"She's an old flame, Chris, don't worry about it. Honestly I wish I didn't have to worry about it. But, what about you?" I slowly caressed her face.
"Seeing you makes all this irrelevant." Christina's eyes met mine longingly, and I resisted the urge to get closer to her face.
A big sigh let out from the side of the room. "I swear Olive, can no one take you anywhere? You could cut the sexual tension in here with one sharp fucking fingernail." Autumn paced back and forth around the bed. "I have to go call Syl. I'll be back.. Don't do anything... you know. This is a hospital after all."
The door slammed behind Autumn and a collective hush fell across the room. My hand was still in Christina's as Erin pulled it away and into hers. Erin's other hand fell slightly above my waist as I was spun to the other side of the room like I was doing a ballroom dance. "Cor Blimey, my love, you're more stunning than I remember. Why do you settle with her?"
"SETTLE. SETTLE MY ASS YOU BRITISH BITCH I'LL SETTLE YOUR ASS IN THE MIDDLE OF MY FIST---" Christina began to turn red and lose her breathing. Her hands twitched something fierce and then her face and her fingernails began to turn blue. Monitors started to beep and things around the room began to wail something awful.
"CHRISTINA..!" I screamed, reaching out for her. I was held back by Erin's slim, yet strong, frame. Christina began to grasp at the air, turning blue and trying to regain her breathing. I saw her chest begin to sink in because of the lack of air in her lungs and as she held my eyes I could see that her face held the fear of death.
"Oy, shh, shh, it's okay." Erin hushed. "There's medical professionals to help her yeah. Don't worry, love." I fell into her and cried with all my might, shaking uncontrollably.
About 5 people all with white coats walked in and rushed around in a fury. Check her pulse ox. What are her respirations? She's cyanotic, someone bring me a blanket!
I jolted as an unfamiliar hand caught my arm. "Excuse me, but all non-essential personnel, including visitors, must wait outside."
Erin guided me with her arms back into the waiting room where Autumn was already. Her eyes gripped the floor, trying not to think of all the doctors that rushed into Christina's room. I thought Erin was leading me to sit next to her but all we sat in an empty seat section of the room. I felt the cheap hospital chairs creak as we sat down. Erin held me tight still, not saying anything. It was so calming, being around her. The quiet intensity she had that I had learned to love was washing over me.
