Jasean's loud ringtone plays, waking us from our sleep. He disturbs our closeness, pulling away from my grasp to answer his phone.

"Hey, mom," he says in his sleepy voice. I kiss his face and play with his hair as he talks. "No, I stayed over Keri's. She had a gift to give me," he explains with a slight smile. I giggle in his ear while thinking about the shoes I'd bought him for Christmas. He wouldn't stop talking about them for weeks. They were expensive, but it wasn't that bad because I got a job at a local department store.

We left his mom's Christmas party early last night. Jay said he only wanted to spend time with me; which is understandable being that we didn't spend Christmas together last year. So, we went back to my place and relaxed a bit.

Jasean suddenly sucks his teeth. "No, not if he's there, I'm not." He finally looks to me, running his fingers through my short hair. "I'm not having this discussion right now," he says, his patience running short. He ends the call without saying 'goodbye'.

"Did you just hang up on your mom?" I ask him in a scolding manner. He simply closes his eyes and shakes his head. "What did she wanna talk about?"

"Enough with the questions, K. You know it's too early for that." He sighs and turns away from me, nestling his head comfortably in his pillow. I scowl at his backside. He's been so rude to me lately.

"I just want you to talk to me," I say, but he doesn't reply. "You know, my bestfriend Jaylen won't talk to me either, right?" I remind him of the argument we had, though he probably doesn't remember or care for that fact. "I couldn't even explain that we're abstinent before she ran out the door."

"Call her," he says groggily.

"Don't you think I tried? She blocked me," I tell Jay. "She's just as stubborn as I am. I just have to give her time to let it blow over." I think she's mostly upset that I had confided in Selina and not her; not so much the fact that I'm no longer a virgin. I'm sure she could care less about that fact. I just hope she comes around soon.

I take Jay's arm, lifting it up in hopes that he'll wrap it around my shoulders, but he just takes it back; pretending to be too tired to hold me. I roll my eyes and turn to the other side, ready to catch up on some sleep of my own as well.

JASEAN-

Keri flips off the radio as I take the key out of the ignition. She's spending the weekend at my house in hopes to make up for the past Christmases we didn't get to spend together. We weren't on the best terms during holidays in the past, so now that we've gotten it together, she deserves it all. I want to make it up to her. I have to make it special, so I've bought her a little surprise that's waiting for her on the inside; just a simple token of my appreciation for constantly holding it down. I take her hand in my grasp as I unlock the front door. Then, I place my hands over her eyes.

"Jay, what're-" I hush her and push open the door.

"It's a surprise. Keep your eyes closed." I set her bag on the living room floor and watch her smile turn into a giggle. "Don't peek!" I say with a laugh.

"What is it, jayyy?" She's beginning to become impatient as I guide her over to the large, illuminated Christmas tree.

"Okay, open." I let go of my grasp on her face and read her expression.

She gasps and looks at me before squealing and jumping on me, kissing my face all over. She screams as she runs toward the gigantic, overstuffed teddy bear that took up most of the space in my car just to get here. She jumps facedown onto the caramel colored, plush toy, sinking into its soft belly. I can hear her hysterical laughter turning into muffled cries through its fabric.
