"You're back early. What happened, baby?" Jordan asked softly as I walked onto the bus.
"It got really awkward, so I bailed. The guys are really fun, but the rhythm guitarist is already trying to hook me up with the backing vocalist. I didn't really want to stick around for a drawn out discussion about how you and Chris Drew would do bodily harm to the backing vocalist if he messed with your girl," I explained to Jordan lightheartedly.
"Sounds like an interesting group of people. Please, tell me more," Jordan replied with a laugh. I smiled and kissed him lightly.
"Well, there's four of them: Blayze, the backing vocalist and lead guitarist, Gabriel, the rhythm guitarist, Aubrey, the drummer, and Caleb, the bassist. While we were on the bus, Blayze told me I should sing for them. He asked me to sing Miserable at Best by Mayday Parade, and I agreed because I love that song," I started, pausing to take in Jordan's expression. It was very similar to Caleb, Aubrey and Gabriel's expressions while I sang, so I knew he was paying attention.
"Blayze joined in with backup vocals, which is kind of his job, and that song is kind of hard to sing without someone doing backup vocals. It was really awesome, like earlier at sound check with me and you singing together. When the song was over, Gabriel yells out that he thinks I should date Blayze. Caleb yelled at him, and Aubrey said that you and Chris would both come after Blayze if he were to try anything. That was really awkward for me, so I decided to leave. When I said I was leaving, Blayze handed me his number and told me to text him. I ran all the way back here to you," I finished explaining what happened and Jordan laughed. I fake a pout and he grabbed my hand.
"Your band is full of interesting people. I love the fact that they find Chris and I that intimidating. Maybe if they keep that mindset, I won't have any problems with them messing with my girl," Jordan joked. I laughed and hugged him tightly, just lying there with my head in the crook of his neck.
"You're so warm," I mumbled through his shirt. He rubbed my back and kissed my head.
"So are you, baby," He said as he continued to hold me close to him.
*Before the concert*
Jordan and I sat back stage getting ready. He sat beside me doing vocal warm ups as the last of my makeup was applied. I was a little nervous because it had been a long time since I had performed onstage. I suddenly realized I had never texted Blayze after getting back to Jordan's bus.
Me: Hey, it's Rain
Blayze: Hey, girl. Can't wait to see you perform with Jordan.
Me: Glad you're coming. Can you come meet me backstage real quick before we go on?
Blayze: Yeah, sure. Be right there.
"You guys are on in 5!" The stage manager called out as I received the text from Blayze. I'm not really sure why I asked him to come backstage, it just kind of happened. After a minute or so of waiting, I finally saw him. Jordan was out talking to his band, so it was just us.
"Hey," Blayze said softly as he walked up to me. I smiled and sighed.
"What's wrong, are you nervous?" Blayze asked, pulling me in close to him. I just wrapped my arms around him and nodded. I barely knew this guy, yet I wanted him to comfort me.
"Where is Jordan?" He asked. He was just as confused as I was about why we were here.
"He's outside talking to his band. I didn't want him to worry about me, so I told you to come here," I explained quietly. He sighed and held me close to him. The stage manager called out the two minute warning, and I pulled away and got myself together.
"Thank you for coming back here," I told Blayze with a small smile. He nodded and started walking away. I felt like I should say something, but I just stood there and watched him go. Jordan walked back in and waved.
"I'm back, babe. Now... the song we're singing is next to last in the set list. You'll pretty much have front row seats to the show until it's time for you to come out. The stage manager will let you know when to come out," Jordan explained, giving me a rundown of the show. I listened carefully and nodded to show I understood. He smiled and kissed my cheek before running onto the stage. I listened as he started the show. He started off with a couple songs from his latest album, The Bad & The Better.
