School was school. Nothing fun happened and no one seemed to care that I wasn't my usual self. No matter where I went I avoided Mary and I avoided Joe and the group. I kept to myself and I didn't mind that. Tonight is the homecoming game for football and although Joe made me feel like a worthless piece of trash, I still feel like getting out of the house. Plus it's Friday night, who wants to stay all locked up on a Friday? Not me, that's for sure.

Gathering my things I quickly change out of my dance clothes and into some sweats before heading out of the dance room towards the south entrance of the building. Which I might add is no where near where I parked. Being late for school today didn't land me a very good parking spot. I had to park across the street from the school in the Best Buy parking lot. As I exited the building from behind me I hear footsteps trailing mine. Quickening my pace to the cross walk I glance to my left then my right making sure that no one is coming. Feeling a tap on my shoulder I jump forward while quickly spinning around to see Jesper.

"What the hell!" I scream placing my hand over my heart. "Don't scare people like that!" Jesper looks at me with confusion as he starts to speak. But I cut him off by turning my back to him. Shifting my duffel bag and backpack so that they fit better on my arm I turn back around to cross the street. From in the distance I see Mary running my way waving her hands frantically while screaming something from across the street by her truck. Giving her a quick smile and a wave of my hand I start towards her.

Looking to my right one more time I step again further into the street. Nearing Mary I hear a horrid scream escape her lips as she screams my name. Following her gaze I meet that of a speeding car heading straight for me. Screaming myself I crouch down covering my face. Waiting for the painful impact. There's no escape, this is the end.

Screeching filled the air as the sound of the driver tries to apply the breaks. A wave of hot air washes over my body as the car nears. Waiting to be thrown feet into the air I feel my body leave the ground as the sound of shattering glass echos in my ears

But... no pain. Perhaps I'm in shock and the pain sensory has yet to hit my nerves. Slowly my body is lowered to the ground and I open my eyes to see Jesper leaning over me his body on top of mine with one hand near my head. Breathing hard with a look of worry Jesper brushes a strand of hair from my face with his hand. "Are you okay?" Jesper breathes as he sits up right getting off of me.

Looking around widely I shoot straight up to see steam rise from a car only feet before me. The driver must have swerved as an attempt to not hit me. But, with the speed he was going there was no way that he could have missed me. He should have hit me straight on and then ran into the barrier. Looking at Jesper to the car I turn to my right away from Jesper as I feel my lunch start to come back up.

Stepping closer to me Jesper squats next to me placing a hand on my shoulder he leans around to see my face. I must look like shit because his face shows nothing but concern. Swallowing hard I fight back the urge to release. "I-I'm fine." I manage to stutter as I stand. Taking my hand Jesper helps me to my feet then quickly releases my hand to wrap his arm around my waist. A good thing that he did too, my knees feel as if they could buckle at any moment. "Is the driver alright?" I whisper taking in the whole scene now. My duffel bag lie at least ten feet from where I must have dropped it before the impact, or suppose to be impact. Skid marks cross four lanes before stopping at the end of the smoking car with a done front. The whole front of the car is indented so bad that there is no way that they will be able to salvage the car. It looks almost as if the front bumbler is indented into the car itself so far that it reaches the driver and passenger seats.

The urge to release all my lunch tugs at my stomach and I lean over holding my stomach. Jesper reacting quickly holds me up right. "The driver should be fine." Turning me away Jesper leads me to a near by boulder to sit on. Seating me Jesper tucks more hair away to get a clear look at my face. "Are you sure you are alright Iverly?" A small nod is all I can manage for if I were to open my mouth I know for a fact that Jesper would be covered in some nice tuna salad.
