Danielle POV

"So are you going to present your friend to me?" My dad asked not even five seconds after we showed up.

Well if I had enough time to really get closer to you I would have done that.
"Dad this is Aki, my boyfriend..."

"Huh huh" Daning said fake cleaning her throat. " so the ring is just for fun?" She adds.

I turn to her and give a killer look, " he just asked me and I said yes"

Is this consider as a lie? Technically yes but hypothetically, he just asked me right?

So easy for me to lie those days that I feel like the devil is my best friend.  Shut shut shut!!!

"At least I am not meeting you after you guys got married" my dad say shaking Aki's hand

Touché!!

"How is Brune Doing?" I ask as soon as my dad let go of Aki's hand.

"She will be fine, but she has to stay here until the baby is born." my dad says. " She will wake up as soon as the effect of the medications fade. Don't worry." he adds kissing Daning and I on the forehead. "Time for my round, I will be back here in 1 hour max."
He turns to Aki and ask, "coming with me?"

Poor you. He was really not expecting that question and start mumbling..

" Sir... I...."

" Great!! Lets go. See you girls later."

Was I worry about my dad being with Aki? Hell yes. I know how my dad can be annoying, I also know how his questions can be embarrassing. He did not even let him say bye to us. He just looked at him and, as a puppet, Aki quickly walks to the other direction. My dad smile to us and followed him.

"Let us pray our savior for the soul of this young man." Daning states in a theatrical tone and acting like a priest.

I slap her hands which were joint together, and push her back to Brune's room's direction.

"shut up and walk."

"I love you too sis. oh before we get in... You need to know that Jake is not in a good shape. He is blaming himself for everything that happened."

"Someone can't just take all blame without a plausible reason.. at least to them." I say to her and open the door to Brune's room. He was on his knee, holding her hand and murmuring words that were only known by the two of them.

Daning and I were just sitting in the room listening to the sound of the heart monitor. It's hard to see her wearing an oxygen mask and can barely get close to her. Jake was still under an unexplained shock. He did not answer us when we tried to talk.

When my dad waved at us from the window, Daning was kinda happy to get out of the room... I can't blame her... the place is sad.

"We all can't stay inside. let's go to the cafeteria." he says to us.

As he was walking in front of us, Aki slow his pace so that he can be closer to me.

"Still alive?" I ask with a smile

" Humm.. We saw five patients ... and one of them was flirting with me, just like you are right now." he says with a teasing tone with a little smirk when he saw my reaction.

"You wish" I say sticking my tongue out and giving him a little push. He took me in his arm and kisses my cheek

"All your dad's patient are old. I mean really old," he comments.

" Some of them are here only on week-ends. Their children just send them to the ER so that they can enjoy, parties...."

"That's cruel."

"Everyone has their priorities," I say.

I don't know why is it so easy for me to be close to him. I was in his arm, walking with a lot of people around, and I did not feel uncomfortable. I actually feel happy.

I  always have that "left alone" feelings. I have always been the popular, smart virgin, no life  in the school, and college was not so different. Having him in my life has brought something new. I don't say it has been a good change since I met him, but change is change.

As soon as we get to the cafeteria, my dad got us drinks and we were around a table talking.

"As your sister will be staying here for almost two months, I want you girls to take care of Jake. He will probably go to a depression phase. He is blaming himself for something, maybe what happen to Brune," he say passing his hand through his hair, "I will deal with your mom later.

My Dad has always be the kind of person who like to take all the decision whether we want it or not, and put us in front of the fact. I have never agreed with his methods but.. he is my dad.

As soon as I finished my water, I stand up.
"I am going to see Brune and after we can leave," I say to Aki.

"He will be leaving with me. " My dad says

NO NO NO!! Why is my dad acting like we both are sixteen?

"Dad!! He brought me here, which means that we came in his car."

"Well Aki I guess you are fine about a Danie driving your car," he says using my nickname, "I thought her how to drive so your car is safe"

Aki??  Calling each other by first name now?? Now he is talking to him like his best friend.
I turn to look at Aki and it seems that he was having fun of my disarray. Well guess he found his buddy.

I just took my bag and walk away. Why didn't he gave him the ring?

I felt someone pulling my arm when I was going to enter the room.

"Are you mad at me?" Aki ask pulling me closer to him and still holding my arms.

How did he get there so far? I mean yes I am mad. You can't be my father's buddy/  best friend. You just met him, you are supposed to be afraid of him.. well I guess... that's how it is supposed to be, right?

I did not have time to say any of that at all...

I just had the time to saw his smile, and next thing his lips were on mine.

My eyes were still close when his fingers were caressing my chin.

"I will see you home."

When I opened my eyes, I saw his back turning around the corner, he was gone.

Swallowing hardly, I open the door and Jake was this time standing next to the window.
As soon as I get in, he turned to me and say, "Can I ask you something and please tell me the truth."

"Sure"

"The doctor earlier today say that a decision has already be made, like a year ago when I asked him to save Brune no matter what. He did not have the time to answer me but you are in the field, what does that mean please."

"I really don't know. One thing I can guess is that Brune probably sign paper instructing that if there is complication while she is giving birth, they have to save the baby... not her. Doctor can't go against patient's will." I sadly explain.

I need to find out. If my sister really did this, she needs to wake up right now and change that stupid will.

Please Brune, don't do that to me. Don't do it to us.

A.N.: So sorry for taking so long to update. I got a lot going on and I really had no idea what to write. Got a "work" for the summer and I passed my classes yayy 🎉😀.
