"Hey Alex! We didn't expect to see you here!" I exclaimed as Alex grinned at the both of us. "Neither did I, But here you are anyways! Come in!" Alex replied as he ushered us into his home. It was quite warm, which would be expected since he's a Fire Elemential, but not too warm such that I couldn't step into the house. After turning around to face us again, Alex finally noticed the letter in my hands. His eyes widened as he saw it, and immediately asked "That's for me right? Can I have it?" he asked and I passed it to him wordlessly. he opened it up and started reading for a couple of moments, before facing us again.

"I'm sorry guys, I know I just invited you guys in, but I really need to do something right now." He announced to us. His eyes were darting around the room, as if he was very nervous about something. "That's alright, get back to your work!" Fireboy said as we proceeded to leave his house and make our way back to the heart of the kingdom, the Queen's Palace.

~~~
After our journey back, the Queen thanked us for our work and sent us back to Earth, where I transformed back and lie on my bed. I came face to face with the plain white ceiling. I began to think about all that had happened over the past few days. From the moment that white light filled my room, all the way to now, I still couldn't believe what was happening. I find a random piece of paper in the garden that I still have no clue who put it there, and I end up being whisked into a new kingdom. And this world has a huge history with even a war involved. How did this happen? There were literally no hints of supernatural monsters in the world before this. Did that mean that magic did not exist before this? But there was still the paper, surely it had to be of magical capabilities, considering what had happened so far.
Millions of questions swirled in my head, but I didn't have an answer to any of them. Instead, I could feel the tiredness from the fast few days seeping into my body, so I tucked into a long slumber. It had easily been my longest rest in the past month.
"Fiona! Wake up! You need to go to school!" I could hear a voice fading in and out of my head. "School, what school, it's the holi-", I shot up in my seat before I even finish that sentence. Damn it, I thought as I got ready for school. After everything that had been happening, I completely forgot about returning to school.
And I realised how much more complicated everything will get once school is thrown into the mix. What if I have to go and defeat some monster while I'm having lessons? What if someone from school notices the pattern and discovers who I am? I'm supposed to keep this a secret, and I know there will be dire consequences if I don't follow.
I'll probably be kicked out of Elementia, and they'll put some memory erasing spell on my brain so it would be like nothing happened and everything would just go back to what it was, I thought as I grabbed my breakfast, which was my favourite banana bread, and walked out of my house after bidding farewell to my parents.
But I didn't want normal again, did I?
~~~

"God, I wish I weren't back here again.", one of my best friends, Elliot muttered. I nodded passively, too bothered with eating my lunch, while my other friend, Clarissa, exclaimed "Why, school's so fun! You get to learn so many interesting things!". Both of them turned to look at me, prompting me to pick a side, so someone could win this so-called "debate".

And that was essentially the three of us in a nutshell. The optimist, the pessimist and the neutral party, who is also sometimes known as the one who couldn't be bothered, even if you gave her an entire loaf of banana bread.

And I love banana bread.

"I'm sorry Clarissa, but I'm gonna have to go with Elliot on this one." Clarissa touched her chest and mouthed my heart, while Elliot pumped his fist in the air, proud of his success. However, Elliot being Elliot, knocked his can of strawberry milk while moving his arm, causing it to spill on him.

Clarissa and I burst out laughing while Elliot went "That was my favourite hoodie!", before going to the bathroom to wash up. "Classic Elliot" I muttered while catching my breath. It was moments like these where I felt the most at home with my friends. Where I felt the happiest.

"Hey, did y'all know there's a new student at school joining for our senior year?" Elliot questioned us as he returned to our table in a few minutes. "Of course I know! Nothing goes on in this school without my knowledge." Clarissa retorts, flipping her hair like some self-absorbed model. "What's his name then, Clarissa?" Elliot remarks, his lips curling into a smirk. We all knew that Clarissa's was slightly challenged in the memory department. Even if we told her something numerous times, she probably still wouldn't remember.

"Uh, Charles De Gaulle? I'm sure I heard that name recently?" Clarissa replied hesitantly. Elliot and I burst out laughing. "Clarissa" I replied between gasps, "Charles De Gaulle was the president of France when World War II ended. You probably heard his name in History Class.". "Oh right" Clarissa replied, scratching the back of her head.

Right at that moment, the bell rang. The three of us head to our separate classes. I entered my math class and waited patiently for our teacher, Mr Rupert, to arrive. Surprisingly enough, he came into class in few minutes, but he didn't come alone. Another random dude walked in with him, and it took me a split second to realise that it was the new student.

Huh, moving schools at the start of senior year? Probably one of the worst choices to make on their part. People usually don't do that.

Sounded like something from a cliche teen fiction novel.

Now don't take me wrong, I am absolutely addicted to those cliche books. But watching that sorta thing unfold in real life.

Not really my taste.

"Hi class, this is Daniel Harper, the new student joining your level this year. Please welcome him warmly!" Mr Rupert commented, before scanning the entire class. His eyes fell on the seat right beside me.

Oh, this was the part where the new guy sat next to the main character.

But the new guy's usually some really handsome dude with stunning features which were to die for.

I took a closer look at this Daniel person as Mr Rupert directed him to the seat beside me.

Yeah, the books were right.
