Chapter 8
Rose's P.O.V
She's looking at me again, the look of disappointment never failing to make me feel bad. Why does it always seem like I'm the bad guy? I'm just protecting her!
"You don't understand, Rose.." Her broken voice sounds from the bed.
"No, you don't understand, Chloe! You're not going out! End of story." My back turns and I storm out of the room, slamming the door behind me.
My eyes instantly connect with Georgia's teary brown ones as she stands in the doorway, holding the same teddy she had when she was born.
"Mummy? Why are you and Anty Chloe fighting again..?" She yawns and rubs her eyes, making my heart pound painfully.
"Oh baby, Aunt Chloe just doesn't want to go to bed.." I try desperately to put on a convincing smile as I pick her up, resting her on my hip as I walk downstairs to our room, gently laying her in bed before I lay beside her, holding her to my side. After a few minutes, all that can be heard is Georgia's soft breathing before I join her in sleep.
"Mummy.." I hear Georgia's raspy voice call me from my slumber.
"Mummy I feel sick... Mu--" I hear Georgia whimper before I hear a thud and I instantly sit up, leaning over the bed.
"Georgia?! Geor- Chloe!? Call an ambulance!" I screech as tears well up in my eyes, dropping to my knees beside my 3 year old's tiny convulsing body.
"Why what's wr- Oh my god! Georgia!" I hear my sister wail before she rushes out of the room, presumably to call an ambulance as I grip my hair.
As I watch Georgia's body thrust around on my hardwood floor I just pray for it to stop, knowing not to try and force her to stop.
"Please, baby!" I sob as I watch her, nearly choking as she stops and I wrap my arms under her knees and neck.
I lift her up and lay her on our bed, checking her temperature before I look out the door at Chloe's pacing form, a look of despair on her face.
A rasping sound brings my eyes back down to Georgia, surprised to see her looking back at me, her eyes...
They're blue??
"Georgia, oh thank god!" I choke out as I wrap my arms around her, pulling her into my arms, blubbering how much I love her.
A sharp pain in my neck causes a pained cry to tear my throat up. My eyes lock onto Georgia's as she pulls out of my hug, an animalistic look in her pale blue eyes, blue eyes? My attention snaps to her pale mouth covered in a deep red.
Blood.
My blood....
My blood??
My screams fill the room before I can even register her body thrusting mine to the floor, her teeth sinking into my cheek as excruciating pain erup--
"Rose! Wake up!" My body thrusts upwards as I gasp, groaning as my forehead connects with something solid.
Judging by a matching groan, I'm guessing I just head butted Jade.
"Jade? I'm sorr- where is everyone??" I frown as I look around at the abandoned store then back to my best friend, watching her rub her forehead.
"Out scavenging.. Larissa's out taking Tank for a walk.. She took Rickie with her." She smiles, looking out the window.
