Chapter 5

JENNIFER'S POV

We walked to the theatre, arriving only several minutes early. Tyler bought a big bag of popcorn and two medium sodas, meanwhile I bought Skittles and M&Ms. We waited for a while, snacking on a pack of Maltesers, before we watch the movie.

- during the movie -

I was practically bawling my eyes out, while Tyler laughed at how, 'touchy,' I was. "Shut up! It's the feels, it's too strong." I said, wiping my tear stained face.

"Nah. You're just a wittle weakling." He cooed, pinching my cheek.

- after the movie -

The movie has ended, and we were just walking home. "What did you think about the movie?" He asked, stirring up a conversation.

"It was great and now I hate John Green!" I chuckled. "I thought you wouldn't cry! Guess I was wrong..." I taunted. He smirked, as we neared my house.

"Of course." He said, as he opened his arms. I went in for the hug, burying my face in his chest. I love his cologne. It reminds me of my dad. Well, stepdad. We pulled back, him poking my cheek, before waving me off.

"Bye!" I waved back as he disappeared around the corner. That was weird...

- the next tueseday -

Jordan was absent, which kind of worried me. Yes, he was often absent, almost three times every week actually, but now it worried me because of the numerous bottles of sleeping pills I found earlier. Yesterday he was here, but he went home in the afternoon. He said "I'm not feeling so good..." But, we had homework to do so... I would still be going over to his house later.

"Jen, are you okay?" The teacher asked.

"Huh? Oh yeah, why wouldn't I be?" I asked, tucking stray bangs behind my ear.

"You were staring into space there." She said, everyone turning their heads at me. I just shrugged it off, hoping they wouldn't mind me.

TYLER'S POV

Ugh.

BACK TO JENNIFER'S POV (AFTER CLASS)

"Jen?" The teacher called, motioning me over to her table.

"Err... Yes ma'am?"

"Why is Jordan absent?" She asked, adjusting her glasses.

"I actually don't know." I said honestly.

"Well, you'll still have to tutor him, unless he gives a valid reason why he shouldn't." She explained.

"Okay." I nodded.

"How is he doing, by the way?" She asked, right when I was about to leave.

"Umm... Very well actually. He's been participating." I lied.

"That's... Good!" She said.

"Well you best be off then. Please do your best to tutor him." She said, dismissing me. I didn't bother getting my skateboard, mainly because his house was just five blocks away. Easy peasy. I approached his house, noticing only just a few dim lights illuminating the different rooms.

"Knock! Knock!" I yelled, banging the door with my fist. Nothing? "Jordan!" I called, cupping my mouth. Still nothing? The doorbell wasn't working, which I only noticed now. I knocked on the door, hearing nothing but silence. "Ugh Jordan if you won't open this-" I yelled, before the door creaked open. Jordan isn't here, maybe he left the door unlocked or something? I carefully stepped inside. "Jordan? Is this some prank again?" My voice echoed through the rooms, when in the corner of my eye... "Jordan!" I screamed, rushing to the kitchen. His half naked body was on the floor, lifeless and pale. No sleeping pills were in sight, because they were all in the... Garbage? "Jordan!" I shook his body. I checked for his pulse. It was really slow. I frantically flipped my phone out and called 999.

- upon the ambulances arrival -

The paramedics rushed in and I was ushered into the ambulance, so I could tell them what happened...

- at the hospital -

"Where did you find him?" The doctor asked.

"On the kitchen floor." I replied. "Is he gonna be alright?" I asked.

"Yes. He was just unconscious when you found him. From our recent observations, he's anorexic. He had absolutely no food in his stomach, which caused him to become weak." He explained, adjusting his glasses.

"Is he awake?" I asked. He nodded, pushing the door open. Wires were attached to his wrists and abdomen, his hair frazzled and messy and his lip ring was taken off. But he was staring at me, his eyes dull and lifeless.

"I want to punch you right now." I said, leaning against the hospital bed.

"H-How did you find me?" He whispered.

"Well, I went over to your house for tutorials, then I saw your nearly dead body on the floor." I replied. He didn't reply. "Shut up. It's okay." I said, patting his head as he plastered a small, fake smile on his face. The nurse cleared her throat, handing me a tiny ass Ziploc, which contained his lip ring.

"He can only wear this after he's released." She said, me nodding, as I tucked it in my pocket.

"Okay. Got it. Thanks." I smiled. Jordan pouted, as his frail fingers, touched his bare lip.

"Gimme that!" He said, reaching for my pocket.

"No. I'm gonna paint this purple, then cover it with glitter..." I joked, devilishly caressing his beloved piece of metal, him glaring at me.
