Thrushpelt looked at the nursery. Snowfur was nursing her fallen sisters kits. The milk Snowfur had was wasted because her kit died at birth. He looked at his daughters and son. They hadn't opened their eyes yet. He purred as his new mate, Robinwing, settled down beside him. He began to groom her thick brown fur that had ginger patches here and there. Her energy made him old though. She gave him a sharp look and raced off, knowing his thoughts. Why did Bluefur have to die?
He sat in the nursery as the three bundles of fur pounced on him. They hadn't even looked at Snowfur, they just raced out.
"Who are you?" Cracklekit mewed. Her meow had a British edge to it.
Oakkit chimed in. "Yeah!"
Cinderkit jumped in his face. "What's your name? Are you leader? Can I be a warrior now? Whose my mama and papa! Tell me!" She squabbled with questions, and Thrushpelt purred.
"I am Thrushpelt. An experienced warrior of ThunderClan, you will be to. And I am your father. Your mother.. Is in a better place, but you cannot see her." He answered.
Cinderkit sat down. "Tell us where our mother went!"
Thrushpelt winced at the question. They must know.. "She died." He meowed curtly. The three kits looked horrified. Cracklekit squeaked.
  "How did she die?"
"She died the noblest of deaths! She was turned a prisoner for things that should be unsaid. But she died of starvation and weakness and she gave all her spirit and strength to you three." The three gazed in awe.
Cracklekit meowed to Cinderkit. "Hey, let's eat Oakkit! He's a stinky tom!" They both giggles and leaped on him. And playful growls could be heard.
Cinderkit stopped and looked at Thrushpelt. "If you liked her, why get a new mate?"
Thrushpelt snapped at the kit. "Because I love Robinwing more! I mean.. I guess. I need someone to comfort me after this mishap is all.. I love you kits." He purred.
Cinderkit touched noses with him. Snowfur called to the kits. "Come feed you annoying fur balls!" Cinderkit looked at Thrushpelt.
   "Who is she?" She chirped.
"Your mothers sister, Snowfur. She's been keeping you alive and well fed." He informed the over-curious kit. She nodded and raced her siblings to the nursery.
Robinwing padded towards him. A hurt look in her gaze. "You only used me for comfort! You.. You worthless tom! I came to tell you I was expecting kits with someone else and I never loved you. Goodbye fox heart!" She ran into the nursery, and immediately started gossiping with Snowfur once the three rambunctious kits drifted into sleep.
So she committed adultery... He sighed. I have my kits to help me. I'll be fine... He stared at his kits and rested his head on his paws, falling asleep.
