Cracklekit was playing with Oakkit when Thrushpelt woke up. It seemed like moons, and he felt well rested. He got up, stretched, and went to the fresh-kill pile. He took a scrawny mouse. He glanced at his kits who where staring at him. He let out a tiny mroow of laughter and picked up a vole. He sat down in front of his kits.
"This is a vole. Only true warriors can eat these, even apprentices. No kits aloud." He teased them, wanting their curiosity to control them. Oakkit pounced on him. Holding him down. Cinderkit and Crackekit tore into it. Thrushpelt smirked and flung his son off.
"Eat up, my kits. You're just about four moons now. Better learn to live off actual food rather than milk." Oakkit was gnawing at the vole's tail.
He chuckled and ate the mouse. He only took one bite before his kits had finished the vole and stole his prey. He smiled. He didn't need any she-cat to tell him how to be happy. He felt happy around his kits. Sunstar jumped on the highrock, calling the traditional summon to the Clan. They all gathered around, and Thrushpelt his his kits behind his tail so they could watch in awe.
"RiverClan has been stealing our mice!" One warrior yowled.
Another shrieked. "And the herbs Featherwhisker needs!"
Thrushpelt gasped. His kits didn't need to know of this. "Go to the nursery." He told them gently but sternly.
"Aww! But we wanna watch!" Cinderkit protested.
"I said go!" He yowled and they scurried off to the nursery. He looked up, and Sunstar was ordering attack patrols.
"Thrushpelt, you lead. Take Robinwing, Adderfang, Tawnyspots, and Thistleclaw to the warning patrol. Threaten them and if they deny, attack. The backup patrol will be lead by me. I will take Tigerpaw, and any other warrior willing to go." He dismissed the meeting and Thrushpelt met with his patrol.
"Don't set one paw on our territory again or we will shred you fish breaths! We'll flay you all! One kit at a time! To queens! To medicine cat! To warriors! To leader." Thrushpelt seemed more confident then he felt.
Crookedjaw, deputy of RiverClan, stepped forward. "And whose going to make us?" He put one paw on ThunderClan's side of the border.
Thrushpelt lifted his tail and shrieked, barreling into the mangle-faced tom. He nipped his hind leg, slashing at his stomach vigorously. Crookedjaw let out a caterwaul and all his cats attacked. He felt a tight pain in his tail as Crookedjaw dragged him off by his tail. He saw the backup patrol. Nearly every cat in ThunderClan charged into battle. . Thistleclaw leaped on top of Crookedjaw, and a crack could he heard as the tom staggered back, his paw oozing with blood. Thrushpelt could feel his injuries now, he had a bad scratch on his cheek, that was gushing blood. He shook it off and leapt at Leopardfur, an unusually spotted she cat. He jumped on her shoulders.
Thrushpelt dug his claws in her back, and felt satisfied as he could feel warm blood under his claws. He let her go, and she looked outraged. He leapt at her, looking at her back, and she whipped around as if thinking he'd do the same move, he slashed her cheek, and she shrieked in surprise and pain.
As the battle continued, more RiverClan cats piled up. ThunderClan is losing! Suddenly, he spotted Cracklekit mewling in fear as a RiverClan Tom acted like he was going to eat the poor kit. Thrushpelt let go of Leopardfur, who was covered in blood, and leapt at the tom. He gasped in surprise and ran off. Thrushpelt picked up Cracklekit and ran into a bush.
"Cracklekit! Are you alright?? Oh my StarClan! You're okay! Why would you leave camp!" He demanded and Cracklekit looked very guilty.
"I'm four moons! I can be a warrior now, right?" Cracklekit demanded, thinking she was correct.
"No! You are a kit! It's against the code for kits to even leave the camp let alone go into an area where chaos has erupted! You could've been killed! I could've been killed!" He roared. Cracklekit flattened her ears.
"I'll never be made a warrior! Go ahead! Tell Sunstar! I don't want to be a warrior anyways!" The dark grey kit snapped.
"Watch your tone. If you hurry nobody will see you. I won't tell Sunstar. This time.." He gently ebbed the pain in the kits heart with these reassuring words.
Cracklekit purred then nodded, racing off into the unseen places of tomorrow. He leapt out of the bush to see all of RiverClan gone except a few dead cats. Leopardfur lay beside Crookedjaw. Both ominously limp. A she cat was nuzzling the crooked jawed tom. "Crookedjaw.. It's me, Willowbreeze! wake up! We could've had kits together..." She flattened her ears and padded off.
Sunstar stared at a body in horror, and Thrushpelt spotted the dead body of Tawnyspots. The loyal deputy of ThunderClan was now dead. "Oh my StarClan.." Thrushpelt muttered in pain.
Sunstar had a grief stricken gaze. "This battle was nessisary, I admit. And Tawnyspots died the bravest death. Protecting what he loved..." Sunstar lifted Tawnyspots body onto his back and tried to carry him, but couldn't. Trushpelt helped the sad leader to carry the dead cat to camp.
