"So. You never told me your name. Slim found your number because he knows your mom," Kells says to me while looking at me curiously & driving towards Detroit Avenue.

"Oh, I didn't even think about it. I'm Bexley." I smile. A strange noise comes out of his mouth and I raise my eyebrow.

"That's actually really cool, can I call you Bex?" He asks & I laugh.

"Everyone else does."

He pulls up near the Happy Dog bar & I try not to squeal. This place is awesome, they have the best hotdogs ever!

"A bit happy there?" He asks me & I realise I did in fact squeal, out loud.

"You could say that," I say, suppressing a smile & walking toward the bar with my phone & purse clutched tightly in my small hand.

I put them under my chin & wrap my sweater around me as tight as I can manage, feeling the cool January afternoon air whipping around me.

Without a word, Kells places his arm gently around my shoulders, pulling me just the slightest bit closer to him. I then realise he is only wearing a singlet top.

"Aren't you cold? Don't let me lech all your remaining body heat." I say, awkwardly spinning out of his hold.

"Nah, it's nothing." He smiles. He walks ahead of me & sits down on a bar stool, signalling to the barman.

"I'll have a Corona Light & a-" he says, then looks at me.

"A Bud Light please, & also, a Veggie dog with pickle relish & Bloody Mary ketchup?" I ask, fluttering my eyelashes. He nods, memorising what I asked him for as he pours the beers for Kells & I.

"Can I get the same hotdog?" He asks the man.

"Are you vegetarian?" I ask him & he laughs, shaking his head.

"It just sounds good!" He confirms & I nod.

The guy brings us our food & then hands us our drinks. I drink half the beer in one go, realising I was thirstier than I thought.

My hotdog is gone before Kells even gets through half of his. What can I say? I might be thin but I inhale my food.

We sit in silence as he eats the rest of his food, I sip on my beer & look around the bar. I'm kind of bored.

"Hey," he says out of nowhere, making me jump & swing around on my stool to look at him again.

"Ya?" I say, looking at him in the eyes.

"I was thinking, I kind of need a new merch gir-"

"Oh hell no!" I quickly shut him down, I came out for a drink, I'm not being dragged into a job.

"Hear me out, man." He says & I roll my eyes.

"Go on," I give him permission to keep talking & he smiles with only one side of his mouth.

"Just do one show here in CLE for me & see how you like it? It's not hard at all, you just sit on your pretty little ass for a few hours & smile." He says, pulling a cheesy grin when he finishes talking.

"Fine," I say, not needing much convincing. I do need money.

"Well, let's go!"

"What?! The show is tonight?" I ask in disbelief.

"No! I'm taking you home, Bex." He says, I tap his shoulder as he begins to stride off.

"My car is at the gas station, Kells." I say, in the same tone he used with me.

He nods, grimacing & heads toward his car. I follow him, almost having to skip to keep up with him but also enjoying being behind him.

He hops into the car & I do the same. He speeds off in the direction of the gas station, music playing loud.

"What artist is this?" I ask, loving the lyrics he was spitting.

"It's me." He says, jaw set hard & knuckles turning white on the steering wheel. I realise this song must have a lot of significant meaning to him.

"You're really talented, dude." I say then go quiet for the remainder of the drive.

He drops me off at my car & tells me to be at the Convention Centre on Friday at one. I thank him and drive home in my cute beat up truck.
