“GA’LAICK!!” Jamgretor yelled as he struggled to steady himself on his feet. Disorientated and practically deaf Ga’laick remained on the ground. Jamgretor made his way towards him.
“Oh no,” he said upon seeing Ga’laick. “We have to get out of here. I wonder what caused the building to explode.” Jamgretor questioned as he pulled his companion off the street.
“The thieves are here, they are using explosive arrows.” Ga’laick said as Jamgretor sat him up right against a wall. Jamgretor’s eyes widened, he hoped Ga’laick was wrong.
“Are you sure?” Jamgretor asked. Ga’laick nodded, he was certain. As if on cue with his nod thieves dropped around them.
“Hextor, help us.” Jamgretor spoke.
Vicven stopped suddenly; causing Eilstina to crash into him, sending her to the ground. She quickly pulled herself off the ground and rounded on Vicven.
“Hey what’s the big idea, stopping like…” Vicven cut her off. A noise was approaching, and fast at that. His ears jerked in alertness, he knew that sound all too well. Drawing his falchion and raising it for the attack he waited and listened. Eilstina looked around wondering why he had pulled out his blade. That’s when she heard a faint whistle; her brain went into over drive, picking through her memories to find the sound. Her brain took her back to the day of Vicven training, before they fought the creature, and the constant strum of arrows. She snapped back to reality casting a bubble shield around the pair of them, as the arrows plummeted upon them.
Thieves walked out of the shadows, glaring towards them. Vicven could see the twistedness behind their eyes. There had to be at least a dozen of them, Vicven noted.
“Eilstina, I think we might have a problem here.” He spoke after a few seconds. Eilstina looked at him in confusion.
“Why do we a problem? You have dispatched multiple orc groups, with massive numbers. But you’re telling me you can’t handle a dozen thieves.” She spoke with a hint of humor behind her words.
“Ok Eilstina, remove the shield when I say so.” Vicven said dropping into his fight stance. Eilstina positioned herself to cast as soon as the shield dropped.
“NOW,” He shouted. The shield dropped instantly, Vicven appeared in front of her before she could blink. It had been so long since she had seen him fight. She quickly focused back in on the thieves; they had been waiting for it to drop too. She stared them down. It would be an intense fight.
Swords collided together as the thieves continued their attack against Jamgretor. Jamgretor parried their attacks away easily but couldn’t deflect all their attacks. He dodged, ducked and parried, but never managed to strike back. A thief lunged forward enraged by his many failed attacks; Jamgretor dodged the attack and made him pay for the foolish mistake, slicing his abdomen spilling his guts on the ground. One enemy down many more to go, he thought, he could win this fight. As he moved in for another attack his world suddenly went black, feeling the knot on the back of his head form, from where the hilt of a blade had struck him. They mean to capture us… was his last thought before unconsciousness.
Vicven easily side stepped, dodged and parried their attacks, leaving many dead on the ground, and others furious. The thieves knew they would win though; Vicven was winded and was losing his edge. His arms looked as if he had been thrown through a window, small cuts lined his arms. He knew they planned on capturing them, he could tell by how careful they had been to not slice any veins. The thieves made their way around him, trapping him like a rat. He laughed,
“Eilstina put down your weapon they mean to take us to their new leader.” He said as he lowered his weapon and sheathed it. Eilstina glanced over her shoulder as the thieves tied Vicven’s hands together. Realizing the lack of success she placed her staff across her back, and stretched her hands out.
“It’s okay Eilstina; they don’t plan on hurting us just yet.” Vicven said, as they were lead from the roof tops, towards a dark ally. Eilstina turned and looked at him.
“Thanks that’s real assuring.” She responded sarcastically. Their world was quickly darkened as they were blindfolded.
“I wonder who the new leader is,” said Vicven, trying to make the situation less tense for Eilstina.
“I don’t know, why don’t you ask one of these fine people,” she replied jokingly. In truth she never expected him to ask, her mouth dropped as he started to speak.
“Hey sir,” he directed at one of the thieves leading them through the allies. “Would you happen to know who the new leader is?” He asked. The guard stopped in front of an old back ally door. He turned and stared Vicven down; he looked as if he were going to answer. Quicker than the blink of an eye Vicven was on the ground, the guard looked down at Vicven and with a wicked smile began to stomp unmercifully on his ribs. Eilstina moved to stop him, grabbing the back of his shirt, she pulled him around to face her. The guard infuriated, back handed her, busting her lip.
“Do not touch me, and do not interfere.” He said as he rounded on Vicven again and began stomping again. Eilstina stood there and listened to Vicven’s screams, as his ribs broke from the stomps.
“Now you,” he directed at Eilstina, “bring him or leave him for dead.” She bent down and lifted him, apologizing to him for telling him to ask them.
“Go through the door,” the guard said. Eilstina made her way through the door as directed.
“We will come get y’all four when we are ready.” He said as he slammed the door behind them cutting them off from the world.
