Chapter fifteen

They stopped and they all checked the car.

Raini:"nope, nothing else was left here."she said sitting back down."let's just go so we can get there earlier."she said as Ross tried starting the car.

Ross:"uh oh."he said as the car stopped.

Raini:"what's wrong"she asked.

Ross:"the engine must not be working. It could take overnight for it to start up."he said scratching the back of his neck.

Maia:"well that should be fine. We're on schedule anyway. We should start driving by 4:00 am though if we're making it to New York."she said.

Calum:"yeah but, what are we gonna do? Just sleep in the car? I'll try and find a place for us to stay."

Ross:"yeah, Maia, go with Calum."he said bringing Maia to Calum.

Maia:"what?why me?!"she said backing away."I wanna stay here."

Ross:"if Raini's going, who knows what would happen? They can't spend five minutes together without fighting and I have to stay here to see if the car could work again."he said as he lifted up the hood of the car.

Maia:"well I guess we should get going."she said as she grabbed a flashlight.

Calum:"y-yeah, let's go."he said grabbing a flashlight and walking towards a woods area.

*with Maia and calum*

Calum:"so tell me about yourself, how long have you known Laura?"he said as he walked.

Maia:"well, I've known her since I moved here from Australia. We met at a train station and she asked me if I wanted to go with her. I said yes and we ended up at the theater where they were showing the play "newsies".

Calum:"oh... That's cool."

Maia:"How about you? Why are you on this trip?"she asked.

Calum:"well, I came her for Ross. He kinda has a thing for Laura."he said scratching the back of his neck.

Maia smiled and laughed.

Maia:"no wonder, when I went to her house we always so Ross staring out his window at her."she said laughing.

Calum smiled.

Maia:"hey, you smiled!"she said pointing it out.

Calum hid his smile.

Calum:"uuuhh, no I'm not! See?"he said fake frowning.

They both laughed. Maia was the one who cheered Calum up.

Maia:"hey look!"she said as she sat down."this is a perfect spot to see stars."she said pointing up.

Calum sat down as well. He looked at Maia, a shimmer in her eyes as she watched the stars shine. She looked back at him.

Maia:"what's wrong?" she said sitting up.

Calum:"oh, it's nothing."he said looking down.

Maia looked back up and at Calum again to see him looking off to his left. She looked around to see if there are animals near by when she went to get a flash light when she touch someone's hand..... It was Calum's.

They suddenly felt themselves leaning in, slowly.

But finally they closed the gap.

There lips moved in perfect synch, but they finally pulled away from air.

Calum:"u-um I'm sorry but I can't do this!"he said as he ran away.

Maia:" Calum! Where are you going!! The car is back this way!"she shouted. But it was too late.

Calum was no where in sight.

Maia ran back as fast as her legs can carry her.
She finally made it back to them.

Maia:"Guys!"she said panting. "Calum's lost!"
