I swear the only thing more annoying than prep uniform is the teachers. I'm seated in history class the next morning , listening to Mr Humphrey blab about mummified men. Don't get me wrong, history like any other subject is fine, but as a Science and Math major, I don't really relate.

Its the only none science subject that isn't gym or language I do. So here  I am half asleep with my head on my desk, day dreaming about Tristan. In my dream Brit and I are pulling each other's hair out ,and Brand just gave Tristan one painful blue eye. Ouch! I wouldn't wanna be day dream him.

I guess it's pretty obvious then that since he'd left my house yesterday, I hadn't felt too good. As the rush of sex and hormones wore off, a deep sense of self loathing planted itself inside me.

I'd been saving myself for Brand. It'd taken 17years and his whole life to do it, not that we ever did, but it took Tristan absolutely nothing. Well there goes my moral campus, also I'm curious why it'd been so easy with him.

When the bell finally rings disturbing my train of thought, I rush out. See I'm avoiding Mar because I feel guilty keeping this from her. The scarf on my neck would require explaining in this heat, I also can't take it off or I'd need to explain the hickeys all over my neck.

Which is why I'm running to my locker in my short uniform, hoping Mar doesn't see me. My hopes are crushed when I see the happy couple making out by my locker. Sigh! Trust my luck to be this shitty.

"Uhm... hi you guys" I say awkwardly.

"Hey babe. Why do you have a scarf on? It's like May ?"Maria asks

"I think I'm coming down with the flu" I say fake hoarsely , adding a cough to be more convincing.

"Poor baby! I can get mom to make you some of her cold med thingy." Chase pipes in.

I cringe at the thought of Ms McKenzie's home remedy. That thing tastes like crap, and it looks the mashed green peas. Ewww!

"That won't be necessary, I just need warmth and rest. Thank you anyway." I mutter

"Well at least now we know why you weren't here yesterday... Let's go to lunch before its too late, I'm starving." Mar orders starting towards the cafeteria.

Well it seems I don't suck at coordinating lies, now all I have to do is keep my mouth shut long enough. After getting some Mac and cheese with a snickers bar and a Dr pepper on the side, I sit down to eat.

"So at the carnival,...... who did you hitch a ride with?" Mar asks, munching on a French fry.

"Yeah you just disappeared and the next thing I know, we get an evasive text that you have a ride." Chase adds

Well there goes my perfect lie. I don't think I have any other friends these two don't know. Think, think ,think you dumb brain. There is absolutely nothing coming , I'm as blank as the page of poet with writer's block.

"Just... uh..a friend you know ...ah the guy  ...Tristan" I mumble

"What? Since when is he your friend? weren't you asking about him earlier that day." Chase asks puzzled

" Yeah well I sought of bumped into him and he offered to give me a ride. I wanted to know about him and Brit so I took him up." I say quickly

Although the look suspicious they don't question me further. Not a courtesy I'd have extended to them. Phew! Well before this hits the fan, I'll just go. I pick my tray and bag up and start to leave.

"You know what guys, I don't feel so well. I think I'm gonna head out." I say

" Should I come with? you know to take care of you!" Mar asks
