Mostly Tears

Our story can be described
In two different ways

You say it is like a cake
An almost perfect recipe

I would instead describe it as a road
But you say that I am simply too literal

You wrote down the ingredients
And carefully wove the instructions together

The first ingredient is a spark
Something to start us off

Next add some strange jokes
To leave us talking for hours

Don't forget stolen glances and a slight blush
If you want the cake to taste like me

For you I'd add a little bit of angst
And ten times as much heart

Some salty tears to bring out our flavor
Our fights and disagreements

Mix until our limbs are all tangled up
Tracing patterns in each other's sugary sweat

Bake until our hearts are racing
Until we stop caring about the future

Let it cool just long enough
And serve it warm just like us

I think I like the way you see things
I know I want to stay.
