Here is a picture of Lily played by Dove Cameron.~ ~ ~
I entered the school with a resigned sigh. The students in the crowded hallway swarmed around me. I moved through the masses, before finally reaching my locker.
I threw in my backpack before pulling out my history notebook.
"Jade!" I jumped in surprise and turned to glare at my best friend.
"Lily, I'm literally right next to you. There is no need to yell." I told her.
Lily grinned at me, her retainer glinting across her straight teeth. She didn't look even remotely sorry.
"Oops?" She laughed. Her blonde hair was pulled into a messy, yet glamorous pony tail, and her green eyes sparkled mischievously.
I rolled my eyes. "One day, you're going to give me a heart attack and at my funeral you better give a nicer eulogy than, 'Oops'."
"Of course, babe, I've already got it written." She said assuringly.
"Your teeth look great. How does it feel to be free?" She had missed school the day before to get her braces removed after two years.
I knew she was beyond happy. She'd been anticipating this moment since the day they put the metal in her mouth.
She widened her eyes dramatically. "It's like a new world, Jade. A new world where I can drink soda and chew gum."
I snorted out a laugh. "You already drink soda and chew gum."
She shrugged. "Yeah, but now I can do it in front of my parents."
Her parents had set very strict rules when she had gotten the braces put on. Lily hadn't been allowed to eat or drink anything that would damage them. She, of course, did it anyway, but only at school or at my house.
Lily and I had been best friends since we were little girls. She was the only person in the world outside of my family that I trusted completely.
I closed my locker and linked my arm through Lily's. We walked down the hallway towards our first class- history with Mr. Reid. Lily had gotten lucky yesterday, missing the dreaded test to get her braces removed. She would have to take it during her free period, or at lunch.
"So, how was the test?" She asked me with a sideways glance.
I grimaced. "I didn't fail?"
"That bad?" She asked and I nodded. "Well, let's plan a study session for the next one."
I smiled to myself. "That sounds good to me."
We entered the classroom and I could almost see the life draining from the eyes of my classmates. That's what Mr. Reid's class did to you.
Lily and I sat down in our usual desks and waited for the bell to ring. She poked me in my side.
"Tryouts are coming soon. We should start conditioning." She said as the rest of our classmates filed in.
I sighed, knowing that she was right. We only had two more months until soccer tryouts and I had spent my time between seasons running less and eating more than I probably should have.
Soccer was my one true love. Like my brother Jaxon, I played for the school's team every year. The coach, unlike many of my other teachers, adored me. Probably because, not only was I the younger sister of Jaxon Abbott: Soccer God, but I was pretty good at the sport.
