Chapter 2
"Okay. Obviously I do not know you." I said.
"You don't remember me? Seriously? " he asked shock written all over his pretty face. (Did I say pretty?)
"Ahmmm...Have we met? I can't seem to remember. Are you a classmate in college or something?" I asked again.
"No. Not a classmate. We met here in this café a few months ago. You were alone that time and isolated."
"Oh. Is that so? I'm sorry my memory doesn't seem to work properly these past few months."
"I beg to differ. You were rather isolated with your memories... maybe with a certain someone? I don't know. It was pretty hard distracting you with your thoughts that time."
"I see. I don't quite take you as a very observant man. Anyway, Clark is it? I think I need to go. It's quite past my curfew. " I said glancing at my watch. I started to collect my things. I stood up and prepared to leave when suddenly a hand held my wrist stopping me.
"Wait! You didn't give me your name yet" he said.
I could hear my heart beat faster with just a simple touch. He just held my hand like anyone else would when they'd try to stop you but I felt a weird sensation in my heart that I haven't felt with anyone else. Not even with my ex.
I stared at his hand for a few seconds then raised and looked at his handsome face. We stared at each other for a little while eye to eye ignoring everything else.
I took my hand from his grasp and turned to walk away saying:
"I'll tell you next time I see you. If I ever see you again." Waving my hand as farewell, I walked out of the café.
He was a good company if you ask me. He had made me feel like I am me again.
I felt someone following me but before I could turn my head, he suddenly spoke.
"Is it okay if I at least walk you to your car?" How does he even know I have a car?? I just nod my head at the weirdness of the situation.
We walked down the block to my car, we talked about anything while walking. He's funny. He has this air around him that will make you forget everything else and enjoy the moment.
I became very comfortable talking to him and listening to his stories that I almost brought him up. My past.
When I was about to speak he suddenly stopped and then looked at me. After a few seconds of staring deeply into my eyes he said his face serious.
"Memories... they are wonderful. Cherish the Joyful times and laugh at the bad ones. Certainly memories give you different kinds of feelings but know this, never dwell too long in the past, instead be happy and contented with the present and prepare yourself, for the future awaits... we're here. Catch you up later! ☺" he waved at me then left just as quickly as he appeared.
I didn't even realize until now that I was already standing in front of my car. "How did he know this is my car??" I asked myself. It was really strange how he knows a lot about me. A total stranger who strangely appears in your messed-up life to give you a chance to start anew. A stranger who is so charming and so handsome that you tend to be tempted to give another chance at love, another chance to be happy with someone. Am I ready? I don't think so. I'm not sure. It's as if I wanted to trust his words but doubts keep flowing over my head.
I wanted to be sure. Make sure that my chance at love for the second time will be better than the first and I will definitely make sure that the next one will accept me for who I am completely with no requirements, the me who I am completely happy and comfortable, the me who will not be conscious of what others might think, and the me who has learned to love herself more.
I was deep in my thoughts that I didn't realize I was already at home. The house seemed so quiet on the outside. I checked the time and it was already quarter past six. I am a quarter late. I checked my phone and saw that everyone has tried to call me.
I ran as fast inside the house and saw everyone's relieved faces as they saw me. All my close friends were there too. Even those who I tried avoiding for my ex.
"Oh we we're so worried... Where have you been? We've been trying to reach you." My mom said as she approached me then hugged me.
"I was actually in the café until 6pm. someone kept me company that's why I didn't see the time and...."
"So what's his name?" Hailey asked. I can see the confused face of my mom.
Ï knew he'd talk to you if we leave" says Sam.
"Hey it was my idea!" Celine shouted.
"I knew you left on purpose! Tsk! You all are so mean!" I said faking angry. I knew they did it because they thought that I need it.
"Nah! We know you enjoyed it. You wouldn't be late if you didn't." Celine said approaching us.
"Can we talk about it later? I'm hungry." I told them.
"Of course dear, the dinner has been prepared. We we're just waiting for you." my mom said.
"Let's go then..." I said.
It's just so wonderful to come home and see all these people who truly cared for me. I'm still blessed.
