Nagisa looked himself over in the full length mirror, he was wearing that stupid dress again, but he supposed it would be worth it for this stealth mission.

"Are you ready yet?" Karma called from outside the door.

"N-No!" Nagisa answered, lying.

Karma sighed and stepped inside the room, pausing for a second at the sight of his friend in a dress. He thought about taking another picture, but realized he didn't have his phone on him.

"You look ready," he answered coolly.

"Well I'm not."

"What's taking so long?"

"I don't want to go out wearing this!"

"It'll be perfect."

"For you maybe! You don't have to wear something this embarrassing!"

"No one will even know you're a guy," Karma told his friend.

"That's even worse!"

"I don't think it is," Karma whispered, "I think it's better this way."

Nagisa didn't pay attention to his friend's words, but instead ran his fingers through his long hair, uncomfortable with how it was no longer tied up.

"You look great, let's go."

"Why couldn't we just get a girl to where a dress?"

"Kuro sensei would recognize them."

"And you don't think he'll recognize me?"

"I hardly recognize you, and I've known you for years."

"Then why are you even coming? If we don't want him to recognize anyone, you are the wrong person to go. Your bright hair will give you away!"

"Eh, if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Plus, I'm your bodyguard today."

"I can handle myself."

"I know, but it never hurts to have someone help. Now stop with your manly pride, and lets get going."

"You talk as if you don't have pride..."

"Nah, I do."

"So stop talking down to me!"

"You're shorter than me, I have to talk down. It wouldn't make sense for me to look up when talking to someone shorter than I, right?"

"Karma!"

"I'm just joking, calm down."

Nagisa sighed in frustration, but let his friend take him by the hand and lead him out the door.

"See, you haven't died of embarrassment yet," Karma said quietly, trying to avoid the issue of why he had grabbed Nagisa's hand.

"I hate dressing like this... It's bad enough that my mom makes me, but you too."

Karma stopped walking, and thought over what Nagisa had just said. "Am I really being like your mother?"

"Kinda... But it's okay, I'm happier wearing this for you since it'll contribute to our cause."

"Nagisa," Karma whispered.

"What is it? Is Kuro sensei coming?"

"No... It's just, you don't have to do this if you don't want to."

Nagisa laughed and said, "I'm already dressed. It'd be a waste if I didn't."

"I guess, it's just-"

"Karma, let's do this, okay?"

"Okay."

The two walked, still hand in hand, through the streets. There was a small festival going on, and they ran into a few other classmates on the way. Small talk of how it's going, and if Kuro sensei was around spread through the air quietly, as they tried to keep it under the radar.

No one had seen the octopus yet, and Nagisa sighed, saying, "This was a waste of time."

"No it wasn't!" Karma protested, a little too quickly.

"Kuro sensei isn't even here!"

"So what? We can still enjoy ourselves."

"Not while I'm wearing this!"

"Why not?"

"Because I'm not a girl!"

The people around them started staring, and parents started pulling their young children away.

Karma only sighed and said, "I don't care. I like you anyways."

"K-Karma?"

"I thought that it'd be easier if you looked like a girl, but you just had to make things difficult. I'm sorry for lying, this was never supposed to be an assassination attempt."

"K-Karma?"

The red haired boy was blushing, almost as red as his own hair.

Nagisa took the boy's hand in his own, and whispered the words, "I like you too."

Karma wrapped his arms around the smaller boy, pulling him into a hug. Without saying anything, both of them knew that this had been the best date they had ever been on.
