Born To Make History

I winced as the Morrigan stood over me, trying to think my way out of this. "Wait!" I called out desperately. "Don't kill me!"

"Why not?" She asked.

Good question. I thought. I opened my mouth to respond and hoped that words would come out in a semi coherent manner.

"Well, you see, you may not know this, but my mom is kinda Artemis." I said, trying to shrug, like it was obvious but also no big deal but also she totally should have known. "And you know how those gods get when you kill their kids, am I right?"

"Artemis has no children." She hissed.

"W-well not technically." I stammered. "But I am of her blood."

"He is." Apollo interjected.

"And she's defended me before, and she'll do it again." Yah, Hunter, just keep on digging yourself a bigger hole that's cool. "And, I mean, think of all the interesting stories I could tell!"

The Morrigan gave me a look, like, are you kidding me right now

"Did you know Yuri on Ice has a canon gay couple?" I asked weakly.

"Enough of Artemis and ice!" The Morrigan yelled. "I am the Morrigan, and I will be the most feared-"

A bronze whip hit her in the shoulder. She hissed and turned around.

"Who are you?" Ivory asked, smirking slightly.

"Ivory!" I yelled out. "Thank the gods! Where's-"

A shower of arrows rained from the ceiling, answering my question. I beamed as Aly jumped down from the rafters, Jakob on her heels, and then-

Kayla, her hair in a long braid falling behind her, landing lightly in front of me, smiling, her eyes bright. "Hey." She grinned, and tossed me a quiver. "You forgot these."

"Thank you." I breathed, unable to say anything else. She grabbed an arrow (from my quiver) and sliced off the ropes. She looked at Apollo, who must have looked like a ratty teenager to her, because she said, "Who's this loser?"

"I am your father!" Apollo said indignantly, and Kayla blinked. "Okay then. This is fine."

"Let's go!" I stood up, snatching up my arrows and my bow.

Even though it was three to one, team us was loosing pretty badly. Ivory attacked the Morrigan with her whip, Jakob had his sword, and Aly summoned plants and vines to surround her, but she summoned razor sharp feathers to cut through them, and deflected any blow that came near her.

Kayla shot at her, and I followed shortly after, and Apollo cheered from the side lines. Figures.

Kayla's arrow hit her cape with a clang, and dropped to the ground. She turned around and growled at us, just in time for my arrow to hit her shoulder.

"You insolent-" She started, before Ivory's whip wrapped around her ankle, and then she had to focus on that.

"Mind helping, dad?" Kayla panted, looking at Apollo hopefully.

"I'm charging up!" He called back, and ducked behind a pillar to avoid a few knife like feathers.

"How do we beat her?" I asked Kayla.

"Luck?"

"Works for me. Duck!" I pulled her away from the feathers, and they stuck and quivered in the wall. "Crap!"

Kayla fired at her again, but she missed. She never missed. "Oh, come on." She muttered.

"I have an idea, but it's a bad one." I said quickly as I watched Jakob fly across the room.

"Hunt, are you-"

"Wish me luck!" I leaped into the Morrigan's path. "Hey! Crowfood!"

She looked at me, and clawed at my face. I ducked, and hit her in the stomach with my bow. There was a roar, and a bright light, and I looked up.

Golden light was curling towards us, and the Morrigan shrieked as it hit her. It brushed harmlessly past me, except for a warm feeling on my skin. It carried her away, and pinned her to the wall. She screamed and tried to move, but it kept her down.

Everyone attacked with renewed vigor. Kayla fired arrow after arrow, and Ivory cracked her bronze whip, and Jakob attacked with his sword, and Aly hit her with thorns. Her cloak flew around her body like a shield of feathers, deflecting the shots.

"I don't think I can hold the light much longer! I'm still weak!" Apollo yelled. "And I have no idea how I'm doing this!"

Oh, he did do something after all. Thank the gods.

"You can never defeat me!" The Morrigan shrieked. "I will feast on your bones!"

"Oh, shut up." Jakob snapped.

The light was fading. Our efforts were weakening. In desperation, I prayed to Artemis as I loaded my last arrow.

The shaft momentarily lit up silver as it shot through the air, and landed in the middle of the Morrigan's chest.

She screamed, and her eyes flashed with rage and pain. Then without another word, she exploded into feathers.

I stepped back, and leaned against the wall, panting. "Did that actually work?"

"We did it!" Kayla shrieked with joy and threw her arms around me in a hug. I hugged her back.

She kissed me. Quick, not deeper than a peck on the lips.

We looked at each other, faces red. Then one of us leaned in- it was probably her -and our next kiss went deeper. Emotionally. And, like, french-kissing wise. Leave me alone I've never gotten a person of any gender to like me.

---

Back at camp, we were greeted like heroes. Apollo waved a lot, and people pretended to care. They crowded around Jakob and Aly, because, hey, new faces! Ivory and Mitchell had their reunion.

And with all these couples going on...

Kayla and I walked into camp hand in hand. "So, are you my girlfriend now?"

"Hm, depends."

"Depends? On what?"

"Are you gonna kiss me again or not?"

Well, honestly, what did you expect me to do?
