I was beating myself up mentally for what I said to Kyle yesterday. I should've thought about it first. Why the hell did I spill my heart out to him? Literally. I don't even know Kyle and I've probably told him more things I've told mom, even. I wasn't in a mental state of mind, I was breaking down. I just needed someone to talk to and rant to. Who knew it would be Kyle, out of all people?
We hadn't spoken since yesterday, even in school. The ride to and from school was just quiet. I literally ran away from Kyle when he dropped me off to school. I didn't speak to anyone, but then again, I don't in the first place. Except for Kyle, but that's only because he follows me around. Like he's freaking lost.
Later on today, mom was still out working, and I was eating ice-cream whilst flicking though channels on the television, second after second. My bare feet were propped on the coffee table lazily, and I was dressed in only a camisole and shorts. So when the doorbell rang, and someone knocked on the front door, I just quickly slipped on my night gown to cover myself.
Wrapping it tighter around my body, I opened the door, revealing a shivering, blue faced, Kyle. Rain was smashing down outside, thunder resounding in the background along with it. Trust me to wear shorts when it's shit weather.
"What're you doing here?" I looked over at him, examining him. His clothes stuck to him and he was dripping with water. He was soaking wet. His teeth were chattering and I could literally see him shivering in the cold. His brown hair was now dark and damp, as it stuck to his head and part of his forehead.
"C.. Can I come... In?" He stammered, and I opened the door wider to let him in. I couldn't exactly leave him standing there in the rain, God knows what would happen. Ugh, why do I care? I shook my head to get rid of these thoughts as Kyle walked in, water dripping onto the floor behind him. I closed the door, making sure not to step on the pools of water. I had to remember to mop it up afterwards.
I grabbed a blanket from a cupboard. "Here. Sit down, Kyle." I ordered, and he did as he was told as I threw him the blanket. He wrapped it around himself tight, like really tight, in order to warm himself up. After a few seconds, I decided to break the silence. I thought for a while, choosing the right words to say. "Why are you here?"
He looked at me. His eyes bored into mine. "Got locked outside the house, no-one's home. Emily's at some sleepover, mom's abroad, and Zac is God know's where. Didn't have my key. I thought I'd come here and crash for tonight... If it's okay with you, I mean. I'm sure I can go to Blake's house or something anyway. It's fine." He rambled, shaking his head.
I took a deal breath before giving him my answer. I knew I was going to regret this. "Kyle. It's okay, you can sleep here tonight." I quietly said, trying to calm him down.
"Really?" He sounded too happy. His wide eyes lit up.
"Yes." I stood up. "Follow me, you can shower and I can show you the guest bedroom." I led him upstairs to the bathroom. I handed him a towel and my eyes widened when I realised something. "Shit, I don't have any clothes for you. Can I just, like, try and dry these clothes you're wearing right now as much as I can whilst you're in the shower?" I suggested.
"Yeah, sure. I'll leave 'em in the bathroom. I'll call you when I'm in the shower so you can get the clothes." He smiled, and I looked at him in suspicion. He seemed to realise this. "The shower curtain will be closed." He confirmed, chucking. I rolled my eyes at him, shoving him in the bathroom.
"Go clean yourself." I said. He chuckled again, shutting the door behind him. After a couple of minutes of waiting outside the door, he called out to me.
