Fera lunged at Cecilia, who in turn lunged for Fennic. Fennic easily jumped back out of the way, bringing me with him. But, being dragged backwards had a consequence. My wings were pushed back and pain shot through them. I shrieked.
"Sorry!" Fennic said through clenched teeth. In the mean time, Fera had managed to get on top of Cecilia. Oak and Amber were trying to pull them off of each other, but they couldn't get close with the snarling, biting, mass that was Fera.
I tried to reach in to help them, but Fennic held me back.
"I'm not letting you get hurt!" He snarled. I glared at him, but he pushed me against the wall.
My wings were splayed out behind me. I shrieked in pain, but Fennic didn't care. Vines curved out of the plaster and grabbed my wrists.
"Stop!" I shouted over Fera's snarling. Fennic just looked at me before a version of my swords appeared in his hands, like a copy, and he rushed into the fight.
I struggled against the vines but it was no use. How was there no one in the hallway to hear the fight?
The vines were cutting into my skin, so I gave up and fell limp. Feeling like I wanted to shriek, I thought how could you, Fennic? I wonder if he actually heard me or not.
I flapped my wings against the wall, trying to push away from it. The vines started to pull away from the wall, so I pushed harder, and the vines bent enough for me to slip my hands out.
I pulled out my swords and kicked at Fennic. He moved to dodge, but was blocked by Fera.
My food collided with his chest and he was thrown backwards in a heap.
I moved on to Cecilia. She lunged at me, but I ducked and extended my wings directly upwards.
My strong wings pushed Cecilia to the ceiling, making a small indent. She let out a soft moan before falling to the ground next to me.
Fera, noticing she was no longer actually fighting, stared at me for a split second before dropping into an attack crouch. She growled at me and leaped at me so quickly that I barely had time to shift to the left. Fera was left off balance behind me. She had clearly not expected her prey to move. I whirled around, lowered my shoulder, and ran at her.
My shoulder connected with the small of Fera's back. She was pushed to the ground. Fera pushed herself onto her hands before collapsing into a heap on the ground.
Amber and Oak stared at me in disbelief. Fennic himself was looking at me like I'd just sprouted horns. Not that that would be so hard in this world.
"Holy crap!" Oak shouted after a few moments. Amber just nodded in agreement. I, on the other hand, stalked up to Fennic and stared him in the eyes. Then, I slapped him.
"What the hell!" I screamed. It came out more of a statement than a question. Fennic just stared at me from his spot on the floor.
"I-I'm sorry..." He murmured quietly. He bowed his head until his horns almost touched the tip of my nose.
The light from minutes before reappeared and all three figures disappeared.
I collapsed on the ground, mentally exhausted from the fight. Someone rounded the corner and we all heard a horrific gasp.
"What the hell did you do to the hallway?" Cedar gasped. I don't know. What the hell did we do to the hallway? I asked Fennic.
We may've had a few rivalries in the past... Fennic responded like he was out of breath. I smirked inwardly. I could feel Fennic having a sassy quip ready, so I turned to Cedar.
"Something... May have happened between the weapons..." I trailed off, leaving him to wonder. Then I walked back into my room to get my towel.
I was off to the shower!
Hey guys, just wanted to say thanks to the seven of you that stuck with my book! I hope it'll get better! I'm not going to add entire chapters saying "sorry" or "stupid writers block." Comment and vote please! I wanna make this book better, so comment if you see any mistakes in the plot, grammar, or if you have an idea of where this book should go.
Thanks!
