"I can't believe you're making me come to this stupid thing." Maya grumbled swerving her bike closer to her best friend's.

Lucas looked over at the girl and rolled his eyes. "Making you?" He asked with a scoff. "Last I checked you're pedaling that bike all on your own."

"Yes, but I'm only going because you wouldn't stop nagging me about it." The blonde beauty replied as they both turned down Oak Street.

"You and I both know you want to go to this Maya. Don't even try to deny it."

This time it was Maya who rolled her eyes.
"You're delusional Huckleberry. Why on earth would I want to go to some lame Fourth of July party with people I can't stand? People who I'm positive will be even more annoying when they're drunk."

Lucas grinned at her. "Cause it's Riley's party therefore she'll be there."

Maya immediately looked down at her handle bars and shrugged. "So?" She mumbled.

"Sooo, you have the biggest crush ever on her and I'm pretty sure she likes you too."

"She has a boyfriend." She stated.

"A boyfriend who is an asshole" Lucas replied.

Maya shrugged again. "True, but it doesn't change the facts. Besides, even if she didn't have a boyfriend, she's Riley freaking Matthews. She would never go for someone like me."

"Okay first off, stop talking about yourself like that. And second you don't know that. I never thought I'd have a chance with Farkle, but here we are. We've been going on strong for six months."

"Yeah, but you and Farkle are different. You were both single when you started hanging out and you're much better with people than I am. Especially when it comes to flirting." Maya replied as they pedaled their bikes into Riley's driveway, weaving through many  cars already parked there.

"Well I can't argue with that." the cowboy said as they leaned their bikes against the garage doors and strolled up the sidewalk.

Maya rolled her eyes once again. "Gee thanks Huckleberry."

Lucas laughed and threw an arm around her shoulders after ringing the doorbell. "Look Maya, all I'm saying is the you won't know unless you try. Why don't you just tell Riley how you feel. She can then dump the douche and you girls can go on awesome double dates with me and my boy." He said with a grin.

The blonde sighed and tapped Lucas' s forehead. "I wish I lived in there. I bet it's full of rainbows and unicorns and all other types of impossible things."

Before Lucas could make some no doubt sarcastic reply, the door was pulled open to reveal a smirking Charlie. "Fuckboy Friar! You made it."

"Fuck off, Charlie." Lucas snarled pushing him out of the way as he entered the house in search of his boyfriend he knew was already there.

Charlie just laughed then leaned against the door to now smirk at Maya. "Oh and I see short stacks of pancakes tagged along as well."

Maya narrowed her eyes and was honestly about to just turn and leave when a flash of light brown hair caught her eye and that melodic voice came soon after. "Charlie be nice." Riley said lightly shoving her boyfriends shoulder.

"I'm always nice." He mumbled back but his reply was ignored as Riley pulled Maya into a bone crushing hug. "Hey Peaches."

Maya squeezed back just as tightly smiling into the brunette's shoulder. "Hey Riles."

They pulled apart both grinning at each other and both oblivious to Charlie rolling his eyes at them. "I'm glad you came. Come on, everyone is out back." Riley said grabbing Maya's hand and leading her outside.
