Because She Loves Her

Sofia was twelve when Sabrina first kissed her.

It was sloppy, quick, and (on Sabrina's part) just for 'practice.' But nevertheless, it still sent Sofia's head spinning.

"It's for when we get boyfriends," Sabrina explained. "I don't want to seem like an inexperienced idiot when it comes to kissing,"

"But I'm not into girls like that," Sabrina said to her. "So don't take this the wrong way,"

Sofia agreed, obviously. Even at twelve, Sabrina was beautiful. And Sofia was in love with her.

Later, when Amir asked who Sabrina's first kiss was, Sabrina said it was the boy who sat next to her in history class.

Four years after, Sabrina calls her, ecstatic.

"Is Amir with you?" Sabrina asked, breathless. "I tried calling him a million times and he's not answering. But I got an audition for Faking It!"

Sofia was happy for her. How could she not be? Acting (plus singing) was Sabrina's dream. As long as Sabrina was happy, Sofia was happy.

Sofia was in the room with Amir when she called, saying how she got a call from the producers of Faking It, and that she was going to start rehearsing asap. She also was there when Sabrina called again, this time saying who all made the cast. Cecei. Corey. Peyton. And Rowan.

Sabrina talked about Rowan the most. How she was a sophomore at Palmetto High, a public school in L.A. She told her that the cast and crew call her 'Row' but Sabrina calls her 'Rowboat.'

While watching the live shows, Sofia was shocked at the appearance of the scrawny fifteen year old who was Sabrina's beloved 'Rowboat.'

"I expected this girl to look like a supermodel," Amir frowned.

"Shut up, she's cute," Dove defended. "I can see now that she's going to grow up to be drop dead gorgeous. The cute ones always become the hot ones,"

Sofia watched every Faking It episode and announcement religiously. Amir and Dove did too, but Sofia took the time to analyze everything.

She decided almost immediately that she hated Rowan.

"Mine's Sabrina," Rowan smiled, looking at the older girl with so much love and adoration.

"Look at that, Sabrina looks like she's in love," Amir smirked.

"I would be," Dove laughed. "She's cute. Rowan seems really sweet, too,"

"They seem like such great friends,"

"You mean girlfriends," Dove smirked.

"No," Sofia said quickly. Her friends gave her funny look. "She's not into girls. She told me that,"

"When?" Amir asked, furrowing his brows. "Sabrina's never mentioned anything like that to me,"

"She specifically said 'I'm not a lesbian?'" Dove asked.

Sofia chewed on her bottom lip. "Yes,"
