Chapter 24

Ben

Driving to the accident was making Ben have all sorts of thoughts.

Was it even Stacey?

How badly was she injured?

What caused it?

Where had they gone?

He wished he could just find her and wrap her up in his arms and never let her go again, when he found her that was his plan of action after he finished off Jake that psycho was going to pay for ever laying a finger on his girl.

"Fuck sake dad hurry up if it's them they can't be that far away their on foot" Ben yelled at his dad who was already driving over the speed limit.

"Ben calm down we don't know it's them yet! keep a clear head remember what I said? people will get hurt if you don't!" Steve replied trying to calm him down just a little.

"Dad, how am I supposed to keep my head clear? He has her and God knows what he's doing to her, do you two not care at all?" Ben roared getting pissed off that his dad and uncle didn't seem that bothered.

"You little shit, you know we care that's my daughter he has got! But as your dad said you have to keep your head in the game or else important things get missed, mistakes made and people hurt! Now grow up and pull it together." Travis hissed at Ben shocking all three of them in the process.

Travis had seen Ben grow up and loved him as his own but now he had his own child, a daughter he realized how different the love was even if he had only found out a few hours ago that he was indeed a father he couldn't wait to fulfill that role.

When Ben came rushing in no more than thirty minutes ago he was ready to kill him for letting that scumbag get to his baby again but he knew it wasn't his fault but still he wanted to give him a slap anyway for being so stupid.

"Don't play the daddy card now, you've only known for five minutes. I'll take care of her like I have been. you just do your job!" Ben answered sarcastically.

"Ben!" his dad shouted.

"It's ok Steve let him say what he has to say. But don't forget Ben I'm not the one that let Jake get to her this time am I? You did!"

"Will you pair pack it in, we're on the same side and we're here so concentrate."Steve shouted drawing all attention to him.

The car was a wreck, the front window smashed as if something had hit it from inside, the front end was totaled scratches all over the paint work.

Travis an Steve headed over to the officers in charge to find out what had been going on and what and which way Stacey and Jake went if it was them.

Ben looked around trying to see the best route of escape. The train station was only around the corner, but why would they go there then it came to him.

"Taxis?" he murmured.

"What was that Ben?" his dad asked.

"Taxis! they must have gone to the station to get a taxi!" he shouted as he took off running that way.

"Ben, get in the car you tool it will be faster, the officer said witnesses said they went this way come on." Travis called.

Ben jogged back and jumped in the car and Steve sped off towards the train station.

Pulling up at the taxi rank outside the station there was only a few taxis waiting for customers so if they had gone this way to get a taxi they were already gone so they carried on driving past.

There was quite a bit of traffic about so they were moving slower than Ben would have liked, he huffed and rested his elbow on his door and rested his head in his hand looking out at the passers by.

"That's Jake!" he yelled making his dad jump a mile.

"Where? right I see him Steve slow it down, ok?"

"Got it" Steve nodded.

Ben had spotted Jake and a friend standing at the side of the road just ahead next to a black Mercedes the friend was blocking jakes way into the back seat and Jake nodded getting into the passengers side and his friend the drivers.

"What why are we slowing down? we need to catch up to them and get her!"

"We're gonna tail em, see where they take us just be glad we found em this easy!" Travis informed Ben.

"I am I just didn't see her, you think she was in the car?" he asked.

"Yeah, and from what I could see his friend didn't want Jake to get in the back with her, so she has some protection at least."

"How can you be sure that's what it was?" Jake asked genuinely curious how Travis could come to that sort of assumption.

"Just an observation, when you been in this job as long as we have kid you learn how to read people."

They tailed Jakes car for a further 15 minutes until the Mercedes pulled into a nightclub car park.

The clubs neon lights were on reading "Toxic" Ben had been here plenty of times.

Each time he had been here, there were girls walking around in next to nothing with trays of drinks and BIG bouncers at every doorway even to the toilets.

This place was definitely well guarded so Ben wandered what the plan of action would be now.

They pulled up on the kebab car park across the road from the club and just watched.

The driver got out of the car first and went to the back door opened it and crouched down, it looked like he was talking to someone.

He then reached into the car and when he got out and stood up straight they noticed Stacey in his arms bridal style just wrapping her arms around his neck, kicking the door shut with his foot he started towards the back entrance of the club.

Jake got out the car with his head down and stumbled behind his friend.

Ben started undoing his seat belt and went to reach the door handle when Travis grabbed his jacket.

"Don't! let them get settled, we need to wait a while."

"What why now? I need to go get her! she needs to know I'm here for her! she needs to know she's safe!"

"All in good time son, you can't just go I there like a bull in a china shop. nothing is going to happen to her, he looked too weak." Steve tried to calmly explain to Ben.

"Dad you don't know that I can't just sit here, please dad!"

"Just wait a little while I know it's hard but trust me!" Travis said earning a nod from Ben.

Ben just stared right ahead at the club waiting for when he could go save his girl.

"Hang on baby I'm coming."
