Chapter One - Stacey
"Why is he jealous? There is nothing to be jealous of, he knows I'm his. I tell him enough. When will he stop? He promised he'd stop." Stacey said as she paced the large lounge thinking of ways to convince her boyfriend Jake that she knew he was the only guy for her.
"Maybe if I stop hanging around with Ben so much, he will believe me. But then I will have no one, I'll be completely alone." She mumbled thinking of a solution to the reoccurring problem of Jake hating her best friend Ben and thinking there is more between them.
"I can't do it I need Ben!" Stacey cried to her tabby cat Lennox; while he rolled and stretched on his fluffy throw on the oversized sofa.
He wasn't paying any attention to anything going on around him and was just stretching out his claws until he slipped off the chocolate colour leather sofa into he tangled mess of fabric on the floor.
"Oh Lennox," she giggled.
"You always know how to make me smile, even when there doesn't seem to be anything I should smile about." She let out a long heavy sigh and knelt down and untangled Lennox from the material that the silly cat couldn't find his way out of.
When his head came into view she scratched behind his left ear (that was his spot) and he rubbed the rest of his body against her wrist freeing himself from the teal throw all together and Stacey stood up and put the throw back into the sofa.
"Come on, Lenny, dinnertime!" She called as she walked into the kitchen, bending down, she went to pick up his bowl.
She stopped just as she was about to grasp his bowl when she felt a hand slide over her backside followed by a sharp pinch. Stacey yelped and moved to the side, so she could turn and face him.
Shit had he heard her talking about Ben? She doubted it, he would already be ranting about how much of a 'lick ass little bastard' he is and how he wants in her knickers so bad he was thinking of cashing in on her and renting her out for the night.
That cut deep and she felt so sick that he could think of her like that, he laughed it off and said he was joking but she just couldn't forget it.
"Oh hi, baby, I-I..." She started, before he cut her off with a slap across her face. He'd given her such a smack it took a few seconds for the blurred vision and ringing ears to go back to normal.
This was a regular occurrence when ever he was drunk, high or sober so pretty much anytime he could erupt .
And this was one of those days, she could see how clear his eyes were how fresh he was, he hadn't been drinking and she was pretty certain he wasn't away with the fairies no he was seeing her as clear as crystal and he was looking at her with such disgust and hate it made her skin crawl.
It was always the worst when he was sober because he was in control of his actions and he would hurt her just as bad if not worse, at least if he was intoxicated he would get bored or tired but when he was like this he was relentless.
The beatings had lasted longer when he was sober as long as an hour and a half and Stacey had thought he was going to kill her a few times but when he was sober it was also the best time to try and calm him down though it didn't work to often.
His rough hand grabbed a hold of her right arm just above her elbow and she instinctively cowered away from him.
"You little slut, think I wouldn't find out, think you can keep secrets from me do you?" Jake roared in her face; spraying her with cigarette scented spit as she flinched from his tone, and the grip he had on her arm that was getting tighter and tighter by the second, causing her arm to go dead. she was sure it was going blue but she didn't dare look.
