Forgetting all about that incident from more than 10 years ago, I woke up refreshed and ready. Tree would be by soon with Taylor's phone.
I went to the mirror and tried to make the bleached hair look presentable, but I really hated it.
Why did she have to bleach her hair? I thought to myself.
The door rang moments later, so I went downstairs and opened it.
"Hey, Taylor," Tree said, really emphasizing calling me by that name.
"Hey," I responded, less enthusiastic.
"Here's the phone. Luckily Taylor's voice and your voice are basically the same when it comes to talking, so call up the girls and have them come over," Tree said.
"Okay, sounds good,"
Tree soon leaves and I stare at the phone. I try to remember her password, and after numerous tries I figure it out. Before calling Abigail, I change the password, then put the phone up to my ear.
"Hey Tay!"
She answers immediately, after only one ring. Does she really love my sister that much?
"Uh.. Hi Abi!" I reply, hoping I sound like Taylor. Does she call her Abi?
"So I'm here with Karlie, you should totes come join us!" she squeals and I cringe at her enthusiasm.
"Okay, well uh..." I pause, thinking. It's better for the fans, as Tree himself said. "Sure." I attempt confidence for the first time since this horrific experience.
"Awesome! Starbucks in 5?"
"Uh... Okay."
She hangs up.
I picked out some clothes that I thought Taylor would wear, and luckily, since I was at her house, all of the clothes were hers. The perks of being a twin is that we have the same size.
I put on a pastel blue skirt, making sure to pull it up past my belly button, and pair it with a clean white crop top.
After applying a fresh coat of red lipstick and black eyeliner, I grab a fancy looking purse from the closet. I put Taylor's, or, I guess my phone, in the bag, and then head out the front door.
I walk down the front stairs and start to walk out onto the street, when I am suddenly swarmed by dozens of paparazzi. I start to panic, as I didn't bother to call security.
"Taylor, why do you look so scared?" One person yelled.
"You deal with this everyday, don't act like this hasn't happened before!" Yelled another.
Without a second thought, I speed walk through the crowd and walk around the corner to where Starbucks was.
I open the door and release a breath of air I didn't even know I was holding.
"Taylor!"
Suddenly two over-energetic people came sprinting towards me, and immediately engulf me in a bear hug.
Taylor usually kept me hidden from her life, so I haven't met most of the people she hangs out with.
I have met Abigail though, because she went to high school with Taylor and was always over at our house. I went to a different school because Taylor said I deserved to have people not confuse my name with hers.
"Hey Abi! Hey Karlie!" I squealed, trying to sound as excited as possible to portray Taylor. "I haven't seen you guys in what feels like forever!"
"Oh my God, I know right? We need to hang out more!" Karlie said.
"Let's go order something. I'm seriously starving." Abi suggested.
We walked up to the barista and order various coffees before going to a small table to sit.
I took a sip of my caramel macchiato, trying to think of something to say.
"So, how have you been? The last time I saw you, you seemed like something was bugging you, and you haven't texted me in weeks. Is something wrong?" Abigail asked, sounding concerned.
I thought about that, but before I could answer, Karlie chimed in.
"Yeah, I noticed that too. You sorta just, well, stopped talking to us, and the rest of our friends, for these past few weeks. I was really nervous for you, Tay. Is there something bothering you?" She said.
Taylor didn't talk to her friends before she left?
They said she was more distant and down, which means up until she left, she wasn't herself.
But since Karlie and Abigail didn't know that she disappeared, they thought she just barricaded herself inside.
"Uh, well, I don't know. I guess I just wanted a little break," I lied, trying to say something she might say. "I guess it felt like I was seeing everything through my phone and not my eyes, so I took a break from electronics."
"It's funny how similar your excuse is to Ed's excuse," Abigail laughed.
"Haha, yeah. Great minds think alike," I joked.
"So you're fine?"
"One hundred percent."
