Chapter 18: What Did We Just Witness?

Lui's POV
David pushes me behind himself as he cautiously watches the scorpion hybrid in front of us, Lucky. She appears to be overly buff, with short green hair, army green eyes, and sharp scaly claws. A coffin necklace is what seems to catch my eye. Although she appears to be very quiet, I don't trust the act for a second.

David in from of me seems a little nervous about her, and we both yelp in surprise when she lunges straight at us. Nogla instinctively pushes me out of the way, only to be stabbed by the scorpion's tail in the arm.
"David!" I gasp and immediately run to him, only to be pinned to the wall behind me.
"D-David?" I question in shock when he crushes me between himself and the barrier behind us. His eyes are glowing neon green, yet he's in his pit bull hybrid form. Lucky giggles evilly behind us. So it's her!

I glance at my surroundings. Mini and Wildcat are also in the living room fighting another hybrid who appears to be tough, although my friends look like it's not a problem. The white wolf hybrid has dark blue eyes with specks of green along with caramel coloured hair. He is built well, but his eyes are soft. It looks like he would rather run away than fight us. Poor guy.

David won't let me go, but he isn't advancing either. Distraction maybe? Buying time?
"So what are you really after? How many of you are there?" I pry but Lucky's grin makes me shiver.
"Well wouldn't you like to know? Actually there are 4 of us, 3 dealing with you guys and 1 kidnapping Vanoss and Delirious." Why would they want Vanoss as well? Too many unanswered questions.

"Will you stop controlling David?" I ask politely and she looks at me incredulously.
"Are you that stupid? Of course not!" She growls out.
"Oh well, I tried to be nice." I sigh calmly before shrinking into a speck of dust and slipping out of Nogla's grasp.
"What the-" Lucky frowns but I grow in size quickly and give her a knuckle sandwich. She passes out cold instantly.

"Ow, my head!" A whine sounds behind me causing me to smile in relief. I turn to face the adorable man before pecking him on the cheek.
"It'll go away." I reassure, and he flashes me a warm smile.
"I think you made it go away." He remarks in a cheesy manner.
"Eww, gross. Please flirt somewhere else guys and help us find Luke, Marcel, Brock, and Brian." Tyler comments behind us taking me off-guard.
"You guys already finished?" I implore and they chuckle.
"Yeah, his name was Helix and he was too nice to fight us. He escaped instead." Craig beams before we make our way to the backyard.

The scene before us is curious, that's for sure. Instead of the one hybrid we expected, there were two. One was a grumpy-looking middle aged man with dark grey shoulder-length hair pulled into a ponytail and red eyes. A long tail skims the ground behind him and pink ears poke out. A rat. He seems to be occupying Marcel and Luke.

On the other side is Brock and Brian fighting off a peregrine falcon hybrid. He is really short with reddish-brown hair, honey gold eyes and pale skin. Brian seems to mainly be the one fighting though, which makes sense considering Brock is more of a healer than a fighter.

Woodland creatures surround the 2 and Brian looks like he's struggling.
"I'll help out Brian, you take care of the rat, okay?" I decide, and receive a swift nod before the pit bull leaves my side to aid the snake and the other monkey.

Using my quick reflexes, I lunge at the falcon to call of his animal friends, which to my delight ends up working. He squawks in surprise before stepping back while Brian and Brock with relief.
"Where the hell did you come from?" He protests while trying to retain his composure but Brian is quick to swing at him with sharp claws.

The enemy hybrid hisses at him but is interrupted by the buzzing of a radio. An earpiece? He nods his head a few times before retreating. He looks back at us before smirking.
"This isn't over, my name is Alec and don't forget it." He declares before running off.
