My eyes shot open abruptly to my phone ringing. Automatically, I regretted not putting it on silent mode. With all the YouTube meet and greets from the previous night, I went to sleep with ease. No pills, no worries, but definitely regret. I had went the whole day without a word to Armani. The silence was so suffocating that even Pyro noticed it.
"Mhm." I mumbled with a sleepy yawn. There was no reply for what felt like hours and right when I started falling asleep a voice came through the phone.
"You know, this scar you gave me is really not attractive."
I cradled my legs closer to my chest and prayed that it wasn't him. But it was. You couldn't just forget a sickening voice like that. Not one that sounded so hollow and dry.
Tyler laughed humorlessly,"Not so bold now, are you? Next time you refuse to talk to me in public I'll make sure you take your last breath."
I shivered, but he already knew he had gotten to me. Tyler knew exactly what he was doing from day one.
I swallowed my fears,"W-What do you want Tyler?"
There was no laughter this time. My eyes were staring straight ahead and I waited for his response. My brother was never one to get straight to the point. First, he wanted to gain your attention and make sure that you he wasn't going to lose it. Tyler had every ounce of mine.
"Revenge baby sis. Sweet revenge."
My stomach dropped in panic just as the line went dead. I woke up and inhaled sharply. Everyone else was still asleep from the exhausting night before. I was trembling non-stop and my fingers fidgeted with the hem of my shorts.Without a second thought I climbed out of my bunk found Armani in the one above. He was buried under the sheets breathing at ease. I felt pretty bad for waking him up. His eyes opened slowly and a small smile touched the corners of his mouth.
"Hey Ivory. Another nightmare, I assume." Armani guessed before moving over. I crawled under his sheets and instantly stopped trembling.
"This one was just, so real." I confessed, mostly to myself. I was convinced that something about this nightmare was true. Maybe Tyler really did want revenge.
"You shouldn't over think it. Remember it's just a bad dream, nothing more nothing less. You're safe here Taylor."
I pushed my worries behind me. Armani was right, I was over thinking it, as usual. But that didn't mean that that everything was back to normal. The treacherous silence that had settled in was back to haunt us.
"We have to talk about the other night."
Armani turned over and looked at me slowly. His green eyes now reminded me of our tent making days. For a mere second I could feel his lips against my shoulder blade again.
"Look, I'm really sorry about everything. I wasn't thinking straight, and it won't happen again." Everything in his voice screamed lies, but the oblivious me chose to ignore it.
"Good, because I really need help with the homework." I smiled meekly.
Armani stayed up and talked to me until I fell asleep again. Only this time when I woke up KC was screaming at Pyro for setting her favorite bra on fire.
