Lincoln lay on one of Carlo's new medical beds, with a groan. Any day now, any day and he would be facing his death, and bringing life into the world. Valkyrie held his hand, as Carlo examined his stomach. Taking measurments, feeling it, and listening. He gave a heavy sigh at last.
"Lincoln?"
"Yeah," the Bounty Hunter panted, he couldn't take much more of these practice contractions.
"I'm going to induce you, today, if we go much longer we risk a rupture or worse."
"He's not even eight months," Valkyrie snarled, in Lincoln's protest.
"They are going to be fine, I will care for them," he gave a pause, "I'm going to have you come back in later today. For now I want you to eat these, they will...help loosen your body, and help you later."
Lincoln just looked Valkyrie with a groan, the warrior swept him off the table, and held him bridal style. Lincoln then took the herbs from the doctor, and ate them, as the warrior carried him to their bedroom.
"Dismiss all staff and builders for the rest of the day," Lincoln groaned, as Valkyrie set him on the bed, then grabbed their puppy Valor, and set the dog next to Bounty Hunter. Lincoln didn't reach for the dog in fear he would hurt the tiny pup when another practice contraction would wracked his body.
Valkyrie kissed his forehead, "Do you want anything, Darling?"
"For you to hurry back," Lincoln whimpered, "I'm scared."
Valkyrie nodded, and disappeared out of the door. In a few moments he was back slamming it behind him with a smile. "I have a servant already on the job." He lay beside Lincoln, pulling the smaller man into his grasp. He rubbed the Bounty Hunter's severely swollen abdomen and nuzzled the back of his head.
"I'm not going to leave your side,"
"Please don't," Lincoln whimpered, tears streaming down his face, as he petted Valor, who whimpered sensing his master's fear, and curled up under the Bounty Hunter's chin.
"Oh, Lincoln, I'm sure Carlo will make everything okay, I'm sure he will have pain medication for you."
"I'm still terrified, and what if I lose my manhood?" Lincoln choked up, Valkyrie didn't respond for a long time.
"I'd rather you lose that, than lose you all together," he hissed, "though I doubt you will, you're strong."
"We really have everything for them? Are we really ready?"
"As ready as two guys can be," Valkyrie laughed, "We have bottles, diapers, cribs, cloths, toys, a loyal guard dog, an excellent mother, and an eager dad. I'm sure we're going to be fine."
"Can you just hold me for now?" The warrior pulled his mate closer on demand, and kissed his cheek. Lincoln cried softly for a few more minutes before he passed out. Valkyrie didn't let him go though. He just pulled the blankets over them, and held his mate as tightly as he could. He could get over how selfish he was. How mad Lincoln would be at him, if the Bounty Hunter knew what he told Carlos.
Above all, save Lincoln, I can never have another mate, but I can have another baby.
That's what he told the doctor, demanded it. Carlo understood the pain, and nodded. The warrior had almost been rejected the way it was, and Lincoln was finally warmed up to him. It was far to short of a time to have known his mate. He knew that if Lincoln died, no matter how hard he tried he wouldn't be able to live as well--the grief would kill him. And then to make things worse he would have two orphaned babies and a puppy. So no matter what, no matter how ugly things got, he chose Lincoln and he always would. Lincoln was his everything. His one and only mate.
