~Erro's POV~
We finally landed at the beautiful Karazhan. Every time I came here, which wasn't that often, my breath was taken away. We landed the gryphons, and I quickly hopped down, extending my hand out to Khadgar. I avoided his eyes and helped him down before speed-walking away, allowing my cloak to flow out beneath me. Khadgar's voice seemed to start and die as I rushed off. His footsteps slowly start with a sigh. Lothar is already inside with the Guardian's caretaker. I chuckled as Khadgar looks at all the books with wide eyes. "I didn't know this many books even existed."
"You're telling me. I love books."
"My old friend would love this." Lothar and the caretaker are gone. I'm more interested in who Khadgar's talking about. It can't be me. "Oh yeah?"
"Yeah, my old friend from the Kirin Tor. She's a night elf." I smirked at how distracted he was. He wasn't even realizing how much he was spilling to someone he didn't even know what their face looked like, "What was her name?"
"Erro. She told me it meant wanderer in some old, dead language." He remembered me. He actually remembered me. "W-What happened to her?" He looks at me now, a book in his hands. His face falls, "Why do you want to know."
"Just curious. You're going to be around for awhile, obviously. So am I." He stepped closer, and I turned my back to him, disappearing behind a few shelves. "Wait!"I'm already around the corner and invisible. I turn to face him, and he looks my way. "He can't see me. He can't see me."
"Invisibility can be seen by other mages, you know." My breath catches in my throat. I don't think I breathe until he lets out a sigh, "Damn it..." He was making it up. Trying to get me to reveal myself. Still a prankster, I see... He runs his hands through his hair, mumbling to himself, "Who is she... I swear, I've met her before..." He sits down on the bottom stone step, and I sit next to him, but far enough away we're not touching. He puts his face in his hands, "I still haven't found her..." Was he talking about me? I rest my hand on his knee gently, and he jumps slightly. He looks my way and reaches out slowly. My breathing picks up, and his eyes are soft, "Erro?" I jump up and turn away. I feel Khadgar's eyes following me, like my invisibility is gone. "Erro..." Damn it. Damn it. Damn it.
Why did I do that. Khadgar sighs and disappears into the bookshelves. He seems like he's reading. I turn visible and walk over to where he is. My footsteps echo slightly. Khadgar looks up at me, and I'm afraid to meet his gaze. He walks over and reaches up slowly, pushing away my hood. A small gasp leaves his lips. I look to my side, wanting to disappear again. Khadgar reaches his arms around me, hugging me tightly. We sit there for a few moments until I get uncomfortable again. I pull back and throw my hood up, disappearing. Khadgar's shoulders look like a weight has been lifted.
For me, they just feel heavier. More questions just filled my mind. Did he regret leaving? Did he mean to tell me? Did he just remember me now since he saw me? I groaned to myself frustratedly. "Erro," Khadgar called, peering around the corner. I look up at him, and he motions me with his hand. I make my way over to him. His sleeve is up, and his mark is a glowing purple. He looks up at me, pushing my hood away again. "Yours is glowing too." I quickly cover my face, turning away. "No... Something's here that's causing it. A book. I-I saw a figure." I turn back to him. I'm towering over him now. "God, you got tall," he mumbles, searching through the bookshelves. I scoffed, "More like you got short."
"Yeah, whatever." He grabs a book and the glowing stops. It is jeweled on the cover. I hear footsteps up above us. "Put it up. They're coming."
"I'm going to study it."
"What! No! This is Karazhan, Khadgar!"
"The Mark was glowing. There has to be something inside, now go." I groan and put my hood up, walking over to the steps. Medivh is coming down the stairs. "YOU!" I feel myself thrown up against the wall. "Why are you here, you monster?"
"I'm not a monster."
"Your father was a monster. He was more than a demon, and you are half of that."
"My father was a good man! That thing afterward was not my father!"
"You should not even be allowed in this tower!" I reach up and unclasp my tunic, "Why, because of these!?" I toss my tunic to reveal the sigils. "You are nothing but a blemish on Azeroth! You will become just like your father, and I can not wait for the day I see you locked up beneath Mount Hyjal just like him." He lets me go and turns to Khadgar who is holding my cloak. I groan as I hit the ground. "You, have a good look around? Got some ideas about what you're going to do to the place when it's yours?" Lothar quickly moves to me, helping me up. "This is why I hate visits to this guy..." I mumble as I move to my cloak. I clasp it on and put my hood on. Lothar puts his hand on my shoulder, "I would suggest getting on one of the griffins and going back now."
"No, I'll wait for Khadgar..."
"Ooh, did you two talk?" he smirks. I rolled my eyes, "Shut up, Lothar."
"Oh, so you don't deny it." Khadgar is then thrown against the pillar where I was. "I didn't want to come here. I swear, Guardian. I urged them to find you. I told them you should be the one to explain."
"Explain what?"
"Fel." He lets him go, just like he did me. I reach forward to help him up. "Don't touch her!" Khadgar looks at him and then me before taking my hand. I pull him up, and he leans against the wall to catch his breath. "In Azeroth? I mean, it's been here since this monster has been born, but I feel like you're talking about something else."
"In the barracks, one of the bodies."
"Guardian, what is the fel?"
"Why don't you ask your little friend right here?" Lothar looks to me, and he can see I'm struggling with my emotions. "The fel is a dark magic unlike any other. It feeds on life itself. The only people known to use the fel are those of the Burning Legion... demons."
"Like your father." I can feel tears brimming at my eyes, "The fel has no place on Azeroth. The fel corrupts the user itself, twisting everything it touches. It promises great power but exacts a terrible price." Finally Medivh is satisfied with my sorrow and turns to Khadgar, "You've done the right thing. We'll go." Lothar follows Medivh out of the room, and Khadgar turns to me. He has to look up at me, which makes it worse since I can feel tears leaking free. He brushes them away quickly, "Stop that. You know you're not a monster... You're a night elf and proud." I scoff a laugh, "I hate visiting this place because of that. If you wish to be Guardian, you must pretend you don't know me."
"No. I'm not gonna do that. You're my best friend, and I just found you again." I sighed and rolled my eyes, "Fine, but let's go before he gets impatient." Khadgar sighed and nodded. I stepped away from him, hurrying out the door. Khadgar took his time.
