Chapter 2
JOE'S POV
I cling on to Riley for dear life, as the bus comes to a shuddering halt. I would be so much safer if I sat on the chairs... I wish I could... I intertwine my fingers with Riley and put on a smile. I am now beaming from ear to ear... Only on the outside though... We all carfully make our way off the bus and saunter towards the school. We go inside and to my locker. Riley and I have a small conversation, I laugh, we kiss and he walks off to his lesson. Then I feal a tap on my shoulder and spin round squealing. My little possy is now here! We all give each other French kisses and start gossiping straight away. "Hey, did you hear that Tom asked Ben out?
"Ewww! No way! That's disgusting!" I say in disbelief. I thought he was, normal...
"I know right!"
"Yeah! How can we even be part of the same race!?"
"Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! There he is right now!"
"Oh look who it is! Tom! Just the, boy, I wanted to see!" I say in a sickly sweet voice, holding in a snigger, everyone else obviously find harder to control. I elbow Abby sharply and they all shut up.
"Joe! Good morning!" he says with a smile.
"Why? How are you today? My childhood friend, who is a, boy!"
"I'm fine... Thanks?" He says with a face that showed clear confusion.
"Good, good!" I say, walking over to him and slipping my arm in his. Behind his back I make a face to my friends. I shiver. OMG! I'm actually touching one! How could I do this!? I conceal the shiver by muttering, "It's cold this morning, isn't it?"
"I'm quite warm, thanks..." He mutters.
"Well anyway, we'd better get to class, right?" I say, tugging his arm and swiftly signaling to Abby. Thankfully he didn't notice.
"Yeah... Sure." He says, as I pull him forwards... Forwards to the rest of his school life...
