I wake up to Diamonds by Rihanna. Today is the day I leave my divorcing parents, first love, loving friends, and best high school EVER! Today is the day I move to Florida. I don't wanna get out of bed but I know I have to. I fight the urge to go back to sleep and just get out of bed. I walk to the bathroom attached to my room to brush my teeth and hair. I decide to wash my face before I get changed. After I'm done in the bathroom I get dressed in one of Griffin's sweater shirts that still smells like him, dark wash jeggings and grey TOMS. I turn the glass door knob and roll my suitcases down the long corridor which leads to the kitchen. I reach the kitchen and see my mom and dad sitting at the table across from each other talking. As soon as they see me they stop talking, which makes me feel like they were talking about me.
"Hello! How was your sleep?" my dad asks.
"Good I guess." I answer quietly
"That's good. I will go put your bags in the car."
"Thanks. I just got to go grab a few last things and my carry-on and I'll be good to go."
"Ok. Your mom and I will meet you in the car."
"K." I answer running back to my room.
I open the door and pull my wall charger for my phone out of the outlet by my bed and through it into my carry-on. I lay on my bed one last time and whisper, "Goodbye home." I get up from my bed, turn off the light and close the door.
"Flight 224 is now boarding." The lady over the intercom said.
"K. Well that's me queue." I say hugging my parents and walking into line. I finally board the plane and find my seat. Valerie paid for me to sit in first class which was very nice of her. I'm sitting next to a very nice lady who offered to give me the window seat but I declined. I sat cresses crossed in my plane seat trying to get comfortable and plugged in my headphones and drifted off to sleep listening to Demons by Imagine Dragons.
"Sweetie. Sweetie." I hear the nice lady sitting next to me say.
"Yes?" I ask trying to stretch from being crammed in an airplane seat for 5 hours.
"It's an hour before we land, I just thought you would appreciate it if I woke you up before we land so you have time to gather you things."
"Thank you so much." I say smiling at her pausing my music and putting my phone in my carry-on.
"No problem."
I pull my carry-on on to my lap and search around for my Ray Bans Griffin got me for my birthday last year. I hook one of the arms into my sweatshirt and let the rest hang out. The flight attendant walks up to me and asks, "Do you want a can of Arizona iced tea to take with you?"
"Yes that would be great thank you." I answer while she passes me the pretty can.
"Hello passengers this is your captain speaking, can you please buckle your seatbelts and prepare to land in 5 minutes." The captain speaks over the intercom.
"If you don't mind me asking, what is your name?" I ask the sweet lady that's been sitting next to me the whole time.
"Sarah Owens, if you don't mind me asking, what's your name?" Sarah asks.
"Blake Alder, I'm from Minnesota so I'm totally out of my element here."
"Ok. We are landing in one minute. If you are not in your seat please get to it now and belt your seatbelts." The captain speaks again.
"I think you will fit in just fine sweetie." Sarah says.
"Thank you." I reply.
We finally land and Sarah and I are the first ones out of the plane, thank god! I say goodbye to Sarah as she goes off to find a cab and I'm left standing there by myself in the Florida airport waiting for my zebra print luggage.
"Blake!" I hear someone call. I turn around to find Valerie standing at the entrance not too far from the luggage pick-up place. Valerie comes walking over to me and hugs me very lightly. She lets go and says, "Blake! You look so different since the last time I seen you. You're such a gorgeous girl. I can't wait for my boys to meet you."
"Thank you so much Valerie. I'll just pick up my luggage and we can head out." I reply sipping on my Arizona.
"Ok. Sounds good."
My luggage comes down the conveyer belt and I grab them. I join Valerie back at the entrance and walk out the door to her BMW, it's gorgeous! I put my bags in her trunk and sit down in the passenger seat next to Valerie.
"Valerie do you mind asking me how many children you have?" I ask on our way to her house.
"I have 11 children, some are my nephews though." She says giggling.
"Do you have a daughter?"
"Yeah but she is only 6, she's the baby of the family."
"Awe! How cute!" I say thinking about how cute she must be.
"Yeah she is pretty adorable."
"So the rest are boys?" I ask not wanting to know the answer.
"Yeah but don't worry they won't be bothering you if you don't want them too, cause if they do they will have to deal with me." She says pulling into a paved driveway.
The house is off to the side away from the driveway and it has a beautiful rock pathway to the huge front door. It is literally a mansion! I can't wait to be living here. Valerie gets out of the car after she parks it in the garage and takes my bags out of the trunk.
"Thank you." I say grabbing my bags from Valerie.
"No problem. Now I want you to come and meet the family."
Those were the words I've been dreading all day long!
