We got to the restaurant and it was so pretty. Definitely one of the nicest places in Detroit. I wondered why there was literally no one in it but workers and then it was like Marshall almost read my mind.
"I rented out the place. I didn't want people to bother us or annoy you but I still wanted to take you out. So I made it just you and me if that's okay." He shuffled around a little uncomfortably. Like he was worried I wouldn't like it.
I turned to him and squeezed his hand until he met my gaze. "It's amazing."
I said reassuringly and he gave me a small smile. He was so cute when he smiled. I wished he did it more often. We sat down at a very comfortable booth and the waiter and gave us menus. He gave us a little while to look over them before he came back to take our orders. The waiter kept glancing at me and running his eyes up and down my body. I saw Marshall give him a very unhappy look. The waiter looked very afraid and he quickly shuffled away and Marshall scoffed under his breath. While we waited we just talked. He was so easy to talk to and I loved that. He asked me if I had any family in the area or If I visited them a lot. I told him I didn't see my family. I asked about his and he told me his daughters are all on a trip with Kim for almost a month. But he said he saw Nate pretty often. Our food came and we talked a little about his career and if he's been working on a lot lately. We were finished eating and he looked at me and said "So since we're done here I was gonna take you to this really pretty park I know but I didn't know if you were into shit like that." He told me as he scratched the back of his neck. "That sounds awesome! I would love to go." I told him and his eyes lit up. He paid for our food and he led me outside to his Escalade.
We got to the park and it really was beautiful. Although it was cold outside there was still greenery. And there was ducks and swans out on the pond. We walked around for a while before we sat down under a very big tree. I took everything in the whole time we were walking. It was beautiful.
Marshall's POV:
We went to the park and I could tell she wasn't lying. She loved it. Her eyes got big and she looked around at everything. She would smile at the ducks when they would make sounds and she liked to look at the clouds. She was so beautiful. We finally sat down under a tree and for the first time since we had been there she looked at me.
"This is so beautiful!" She exclaimed.
It made me laugh because it was so obvious she thought so. Her eyes were glowing at everything she saw.
"I'm so glad you like it."
Alex's POV:
It was cool outside and a little windy. It was usually pretty cold in Detroit though anyway. I pulled my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them. Marshall looked at me with a little bit of worry in his eyes.
"Damn are you cold? I'm sorry. Here-"
He said as he began to take off his jacket.
"Marshall, that's okay you don't have to do that!" I said but he insisted. He took his jacket and put it around me. It was so big on me but it smelled so good and it was warm. I turned and looked up at him and my eyes got wide. His tattoos. His tattoos were always so attractive to me and I hadn't seen them in person since we met. I just stared stupidly at him. He was so beautiful.
"What's wrong?" He asked me.
That made me stop staring and I quickly responded "oh! Nothing. I'm sorry for staring like that. I just think your tattoos are amazing. And so are you." I said the last part under my breath but he looked at me a little funny and smiled so he may have heard me.
"Yeah?" He asked as he looked down at them. I trailed my finger down his arm until he suddenly took my hand off his arm and held it in his. Then he looked at me with his piercing blue eyes before I felt him press his lips against mine. It shocked me but it felt amazing. I wrapped my arms around his neck and ran my fingers through his hair and he deepened the kiss. His hands travelled to my waist. I gently put my hand against his chest and broke the kiss. I smile stupidly and looked down at the ground. He smiled a little in return and wrapped his arms around me and I laid my head on his chest. There was no else there that I could see and we sat in each other's arms in a content silence as we watched the sunset. Being with him relaxed me and I slowly drifted off to sleep.
I woke to Marshall gently shaking me. "Alex? Alex we fell asleep." He chuckled. I sat up and looked around at the darkness and realized it had gotten colder. I laughed and he helped me up off the ground. He took my hand and we walked back to his car. The car ride was full of laughs as we talked about how we had fallen asleep and how Marshall was really confused when he had first woken up. We got back to my apartment and stopped at my door. I turned around to face him.
"I had such an amazing time. Thank you so much." I beamed at him.
He looked down at me and said
"it's not a problem. I had fun too. I would love it if I could take you out again sometime?"
He said the last part as he shifted kinda awkwardly. I could tell he was afraid I would say no and it was adorable.
"Of course" I said and smiled reassuringly.
He leaned down and pulled me into him as he kissed me gently. He pulled back and then smiled at me.
"Goodnight, Alex".
"Goodnight, Marshall."
I went into my apartment and changed into a tank top and boy shorts and slept better than I had since I could remember.
