Sakura pov

I was right in the middle of a lovely dream about Sasuke and I when the sharp breath taking pain flared threw my stomach. First it caused me to sit up, something wasn't right and being a medical ninja I would have been able to tell. After a few more minutes it faded away. "Mom you ok?" Came a soft whisper from Sarada who sat in the window sill. She was so much like her dad in that way, "Everything's fine. I'm ok. Why aren't you asleep?" I asked even though I could tell. Looking back out the window she replide with, "I miss dad....that man we saw today wasn't him."

I felt her pain. When I looked into his eyes today I didn't see the man I used to love, I saw the cold hearted man who I spent so long chasing. Extending my arms out toward her I motioned her to me. Coming in for a hug we sat there in each other's embrace, we both had lost something precious to us and we both wanted it back.

Pulling back she took off her glasses and rubbed her eyes. Kissing her forehead, I smiled and said, "Get some sleep. Tomorrow we'll try to figure out where they went. Before this is over we will her your father back, that I promise you." My words fooled even myself for a moment. Did I think we could get Sasuke back? No. Am I going to do everything in my power to try? Of course I am and thankfully I'm not doing this alone. Sarada, Shikamaru and Karin would help me.

Hours passed before everyone was up and about. Stretching, Shikamaru looked over at our red headed teammate and asked, "Any reading on Sasuke's chakra?" Closing her eyes the Kinochi focused hard, I could feel the chakra swirl threw the air. Just as quickly the wind started, it died. "No. I still can't get a reading on his chakra, I even tried searching for the others but no luck."
"What about this Nyx person?" I asked while trying to hide my disappointment. "I think I remember." Shikamaru spoke up. We headed out of the village while Shikamaru told us the story he had read a few years ago.

"Long ago before Kaguya was sealed away by her son's she had a run in with two deities from a far away place. One was a girl with long midnight colored hair, the other was a man built like no other." We listened intentally while he explained how Kaguya met and first fought with the other two gods, until one day they discovered an unknown way to coexist peacefully. On their death beds each god sealed off what they called their primal powers. Erebus sealed his inside a diamond, Nyx used an emerald and Kaguya sealed hers inside a pearl her son's had found for her. Not long after, Erebus was defeated and cast into the pit of darkness. Nyx faded away into history and Kaguya was sealed away by her sons.

"Those stones must be what they are after....but I wonder why." Mom grumbled. "Maybe there is a way to unlock each of the primal powers that are sealed inside the stones." Shikamaru said, his reasoning made the most sense. "Well whatever the reason we need to stop them and get Sasuke back." Karin said from beside me. That I agreed with, off into the distance an explosion shook the ground. "A huge blast of chakra happened not to far away." Karin said, closing her eyes she took a deep breath before adding, "Sasuke is there."

Sasuke pov

After we had captured the emerald I figured everything would clear up and I could return to my family, yet once the girl spoke of one final piece we would need called Kaguya's pearl I knew the one who had sent us on this path had deliberately left out that information. That wasn't all, since taking the emerald into his possession Akatsu had begun to act strange. He became all gittery and shaky as if he couldn't sit still, I was wondering how Diana hadn't noticed yet.

"What's out next move?" I asked while my gaze fell on the still burning house and body of a girl who had the worst luck of meeting us. Diana opened her mouth to reply when Akatsu interjected, "I sense ninja approaching from multiple sides actually. We should move like now." Activating my sharigan I didn't manage to pick up anyone nearby. He ran off without another word leaving Diana, and I scrambling to catch up.

That was hours ago, now the moon was high in the sky and we were camping in a small clearing next to the tree line. Diana lay with her back toward Akatsu and me. The fire flickered and danced, Akatsu was holding both the diamond and emerald in his hands, staring at them with power hungry eyes. "You ok?" I spoke up. His gaze rose to meet my own, "Yes. I am fine." Looking back down at the stones in his hands he continued, "Just trying to control the power that's exploding from these rocks. It's flooding my system."

"Do you think that girl was telling the truth about Kaguya's pearl?" I asked. If there was a third stone and it represented Kaguya, a goddess that I had fought before then I damn sure wanted to know about it. Without looking away from the rocks in his hands he answered, "Doubtful. Just something for her to say. That old man would had told us." I wasn't sure I trusted the word of that old man but as of right now it was the only thing we had so I went with it. "Yet some sleep. I will take first watch." He said, being to tired to argue I obliged and went to sleep.

Naruto pov

"Hinata you shouldn't be here, I could handle this." I mumbled. Now don't get me wrong, Hinata showing up helped me a lot but I couldn't risk her getting hurt. The old man took a step forward, "Well I guess I can fight you too. You aren't one of the ones who hold the pieces of Kaguya's pearl within you but hey I've got nothing better to do."
The tendrils of darkness targeted Hinata for their next attack yet they never got but a few feet away before a wave of blue chakra would sever them. Taking her stance, she said, "I'll make this short, Naruto please stay close. Once I create an opening you deal the final blow." The look on her face told me to shut up and do what she said so I nodded.

The old man seemed amused by Hinata, "Please by all means attack me however you will, I assure you it will all be meaningless." he said.
Launching herself forward, two blue full bodied lions appeared around her arms, "Twin lion destruction!" She announced. This jutsu caught me off guard seeing as how this was the first time I had ever seen it. Her blue chakra lions disintegrated the tendrils of darkness that surrounded the old man, summoning all my chakra on a rasenshurkin I waited for my opening.

The old man let out a laugh, flexing his hand a huge tendril of darkness erupted under Hinata wrapping around her and stopping her advance. "You now have a choice hokage, save yourself or give me the pearl and I'll free her."
"Or I could just kill you and then save her!" I yelled.
"You could try but I made sure to plan ahead, so inside that tentacle of darkness are thousands of paper bombs strong enough to wipe out this pathetic village."

My mind decided to go blank at that moment. The leaf village had been destroyed before and that was not a pain I wished to feel again but at the same time this man wanted whatever this pearl is pretty badly so it must be important and something I shouldn't give up easily. Taking a deep breath and aiming carefully I sent my rasenshurkin flying at the tentacle that held Hinata. It sliced right threw, moving as fast as possible I saved her then laid her down at a safe distance. "Goodbye hokage." I heard the old man said. Using every ounce of chakra at my disposal, I willed the burning yellow chakra to spread over the bombs then in a flash I was blinded.

Once the light faded I found myself laying on my back staring up at the slightly purple sky. Hinata was bent over me with a worried look on her face, I guess I actually stopped the bomb but what about.....before the thought occurred I watched helplessly as Hinata was blown backwards, crashing into the wreckage that was once my office. The older man entered my view, shaking his head he smiled. "You protected your village and wife, but at the cost of your chakra and body." He motioned to the bottom half of my body, following his hand fear gripped my heart as I saw that my left leg was gone and my right was bent at an odd angle.

"You had a good run Lord seventh sadly it ends here but don't worry I'll let you live for now, all I'm after is that piece of Kaguya's pearl." A tendril of darkness pierced My stomach then just as fast it was gone. The older man chuckled, "One down, two to go. Off to see that pink haired girl for piece number two. See you soon hokage...." his voice faded into the air. Time picked back up, I could faintly hear people yelling but at that moment the pain hit me causing The darkness to take over.
