We get to the house. Having a queen sized bed might come in helpful in the future. I didn't want to point that out to Matthew because then he might get the wrong idea.
Dinner is on the table now, and we both sit there, this time across the table from each other, staring. He looks like he has a question for me but look like he might be too afraid to ask.
"Do you have a question?" I asked. No sense in beating around the bush here. It's just a question anyway.
"Yeah, I do. I just don't know how you will feel about it." He responded shyly.
"That's okay, don't worry about it. You can ask me anything." I reassured him.
"Well I was wondering if I would be able to share your bed with you. The couch is kind of hurting my back plus I'd like to be close to you. Sorry if this sounds weird." He asked and my face went red. Apparently having a queen sized bed will come in handy sooner rather than later.
"Yeah, that would be okay." I hesitated. I wasn't really sure if I wanted him in my bed but I guess I have to trust him. He is my boyfriend now anyway.
Boyfriend. A phrase I thought I would never use for anyone.
After dinner, I walk into the bedroom to get changed. He stays downstairs and uses the bathroom down there to get changed into his new pajamas we had bought earlier today. Then I go back downstairs, plop down next to him on the couch, and flick the television on.
"Bedtime soon for me." I said quietly as I look at the clock and notice it says 9:30pm.
"So early?" He said, giving a crooked look of confusion.
"Well it's really not that early." I replied. I wasn't about to tell him I used to go to bed an hour earlier than it is now. Then I'd just sound lame.
"Fair enough. I was just wondering if you would want to play a game of cards. I noticed you had some tonight when we sat down for dinner." He asked, less shyly than I ever remember him sounding.
"Maybe tomorrow?" I suggested. I didn't feel like playing games tonight. I just wanted to relax and get to bed early.
"Oh, yeah sure." He disappointedly took his attention off from me and looked up at the television. Now I just felt bad. I didn't want him to be upset, I just wanted to wait until tomorrow before we play games so I can actually sleep tonight. I have the day off, anyway, so it shouldn't be a huge deal, right?
We sat there in silence for a few minutes watching the episode of NCIS that just came on when I got thirsty. I got up from the couch, walked to the kitchen, grabbed a glass out of the cupboard and poured myself a glass of milk. I turned around to go back in the other room and I had a heart attack. Matthew was standing behind me with a giant grin on his face. He grabbed my waist and pulled me close. He looked down into my eyes as my heart began to beat at a million miles per hour. He leaned down, coming just an inch or two from my face before whispering "thank you for helping me and for being mine." I reached up, put my arms around his neck and shoulders and reached up for a long kiss that seemed to last forever. In this case though, forever wasn't long enough. We released the kiss, but not each other, and he put his nose up against mine and looked in my eyes with a huge smile on his face. I couldn't help but smile, too.
After a few minutes of standing there, face to face, nose to nose, we finally broke the grip and I grabbed my drink.
"Mind if I have some as well?" Matthew said, noticing the milk in my hand.
"Yeah, sure. Go for it." I responded, mind still in a jumble from the kiss of a lifetime.
"Thanks, dear."
"You're welcome, hun." I smiled before turning to go in the other room again.
After he came out of the kitchen, he plopped down on the couch next to me, milk in one hand, and putting his arm around me with the other. It's amazing what a few days can do. Just a few days ago, he was this shy guy living on the street. Now, he's a handsome and daring romeo that girls often only dream of.
Dreams. Another thing that never crossed my mind. I had been a dreamer. I didn't even notice. I always wanted something like this. Does that mean dreams come true, or is this just one big nightmare waiting to happen?
I cuddled into his shoulder and got comfortable with his warmth next to me. I couldn't help but smile again, even though this time he couldn't see me. It was uncontrollable. And to think, I almost said no.
"I'm guessing you'll be ready for bed soon." He questioned and I looked at the clock and saw that the time said 10:30pm.
"Yeah, very soon. I didn't realize that this much time went by."
"Time flies when you're having fun, right?" He asked with a little half smile and turned my face to his and kissed me gently once again.
I was trying like hell to think of something witty and funny to say in return but I couldn't, so I just smiled like a moron and got ready to get up to go upstairs and go to bed.
"Are you going to come with me?" I asked hopefully. I actually had hoped that he would come with me. I wanted him with me tonight so I could fall asleep in his arms.
"If you want me to, I will."
I tried not to sound too enthusiastic. "Yes, that would be nice."
We both got up from the couch and I grabbed the remote to click the television off. He grabbed my hand and we started up the stairs. I was winded by the time we reached the top of the stairs but I tried to hide it because Matthew seemed fine and like he wasn't out of breath.
We get to the door of my room and crack it open. He looks at the giant bed laying against the far wall of my room with wide eyes.
"Woah!" He exclaims.
"What hun?" I ask, even though the question was foolish since I already knew what he was shocked about.
"Huge. A huge bed. I wasn't quite expecting that."
"Well, if it was any smaller we'd have to cuddle even closer than I'm sure we probably will." I smiled and winked at him which caused him to blush.
"And I am certain that you wouldn't mind that." He flirted back, making me blush worse than he did.
"Maybe, maybe not."
"Well I think we should find out." He winked before proceeding to pick me up and toss me on the bed. Climbs on top of me and begins to kiss me, both hands up near my head, his body pressed firmly against mine. I can feel his warmth and it excites me. I can feel his searing breath against my lips as he pulls away to whisper something that I can only vaguely hear before pulling him tight against me.
Then, he lays down next to me, holds me tight, and falls asleep. This was the most relaxed I have felt in many days and I love it.
