I followed the Doctor down the apartment stairs. "Hold on a minute, you can't just go swanning off!"

"Yes I can. Anyway, this is me swanning off. See ya!"

"That arm was moving! It tried to kill me!"

"I'm going to take it for observation."

"You can't just walk away! That's not fair, you've got to tell me what's going on."

"No I don't!" He reached the bottom of the stairs and walked out the door.

"Alright then," I said as I contined to follow him. "I'll just tell the police, I'll tell everyone. You said that if I tell people, I'll get the killed so come on, your choice. Tell me or I'll start talking."

"Is that supposed to sound tough?"

"Sort of," I shrugged.

"Doesn't work."

"Who are you?"

"Told you, the Doctor."

"Doctor what?" I asked.

"Just the Doctor."

"The Doctor?"

"Hello," he smiled and waved.

I laughed. "Is that supposed to sound impressive?"

"Sort of," he grinned.

"Come on though, you can tell me, I've seen enough. Are you the police?"

"No," he shook his head. "I'm just.... passing through. I'm a long way from home."

"But what have I done wrong?" I asked. "Why do those plastic things keep coming after me?"

"Oh, so the entire world revolves around you? You were just an accident. You got in the way, that's all."

"It tried to kill me!"

"It was after me, not you. Last night in the shop, I was there. You just blundered through, almost ruined the whole thing. This morning I was tracking it down, it was tracking me down. The only reason it settled on you was because you met me."

"So what your saying is the entire world revolves around you?" I snorted.

"Sort of, yeah," he replied.

"You're full of it."

"Sort of, yeah," he repeated.

"All this plastic stuff, who else knows about it?"

"No one," the Doctor said.

"What? You're on your own?"

"Well who else is there?" he asked. "You lot, all you do is eat chips, watch tv and go to bed while all the time underneath you, there's a war going on."

I took the manekin arm out of his hand. "Hey," I said gently, "start from the beginning. I mean, if we're going to go with the living plastic, and I don't even believe that, but if we do, how did you kill it?"

"The thing controlling it sends life into the arm," the Doctor explained. "I cut off the signal."

"So that's radio controlled?" I asked.

"Solar controlled." He noticed the confused look on my face. "You alright?"

"Yeah," I said quickly. "So who's controlling it then?"

"Long story."

"But what's it all for? I mean, shop window dummies, what's that about? Is someone trying to take over brand shops?" I laughed.

The Doctor laughed too. "No, it's not a price war. They want to over throw the human race and destroy you. Do you believe me?"

"No."

"But you're still listening."

I stopped walking. "Really though, Doctor. Tell me, who are you?"

He stopped walking too, just a little ahead of me. "Do you know what we were saying, about the world revolving? It's like when you're a kid and they tell you about the world turning and you just can't believe it because it looks like it's standing still. I can feel it." He took my hand. "The turn of the earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at a thousand miles an hour. The entire planet is hurtling around the sun at sixty-seven miles an hour, and I can feel it. We're falling through space, you and me. Clinging to the side of this tiny little world and if we let go...." He let go of my hand. "That's who I am. Now forget me, Rose Tyler. Go home." He took the manekin arm back and walked away towards a blue police box.

As I walked away I heard a whooshing sound and ran back to where the Doctor was except he wasn't there and neither was the police box.
