You stared at him, unable to comprehend the words that had left his mouth. He was saying sorry to you? He struck you as arrogant. Someone who wouldn't even admit they were wrong. Someone who wouldn't take the time to go back and explain that he was wrong, or why. Someone who put the blame on someone else out of anger. Kinda like someone you knew from school, the annoying Wayne brat if anything.
Your lips parted, eyebrows turned upwards in confusion. A breath left past your lips, Robin felt the hot air on his face while your grip around the old cape loosened and it fell to the floor. The sound of fabric falling through air was the only noise in the room aside from an owl hooting in the distance.
"What?" You asked, your voice was soft, right fist starting to unclench by your side as you dropped the notebook that you had grabbed the throw at him earlier, it fell besides the cape. Both hands free of the tight grip that turned your knuckles a white.
"You have two minutes to explain everything before I rip off that mask and make a blog all about you, Birdbrain." You tried to make it sound like you werent fazed by this, face reddening significantly while you looked at the floor before turning your gaze back up at him.
"I said I'm sorry. Do not make me repeat myself. Originally, I had planned to come here and tell you that you were being foolish. That every time you ran away from all help given to you, you could have been captured or killed. Or worse." He stated. His jaw unclenched as he reached for your shoulders with his hands, placing them gently over your body.
You flinched at the physical contact, almost every time he touched you it was out against you. The last time he touched you in a way to comfort you was all those years ago when your parents were murdered, not only that but you were the one who initiated it. This time he was, reaching out to you and gently placing both of his hands on your shoulders.
This time he was the one who had the thought of comforting contact come to his mind, not to hurt you. Not to restrain you. But to make you feel better, to make you feel safe.
You could tell he was new to the whole bit of that, his left hand twitched a bit on your shoulder, and he had to look away and couldn't keep eye contact with you. When he breathed they were jagged and uneven. You could tell he either wasn't thinking about his actions very much, or he was thinking into them too much.
"I'm sorry-For biting you. That was a little uncalled for and I went too far. I'm not going to say i'm sorry for running off all the time though." You stated, the light above the two of you was fairly dim due to you not replacing the bulb. It was pretty much dying out over time and you had assumed it was gonna go out tonight by how much it's been flickering lately.
The cold air made you shiver, Robin felt this and gave you a look. It wasn't a frown, but his lips parted differently, and his eyebrows raised in worry, slightly. It wasn't much of a difference.
"Why did you change your mind on ripping me a new one?" You asked, trying to lighten the mood but nothing really worked, you gently placed one hand on his left one and held it between your hands in between the two of you, his right hand remain on your shoulder. His grip over you tightened a bit, at this you winced and right when he saw the action he snapped both hands away from you and shoved them behind his body, taking a step back away from you.
"Robin, I-"
"Seeing you like that. What your brother was doing was wrong, and intolerable. Those types of things should not be hidden." He stated, folding his hands across his chest and raising an eyebrow, he looked as if he was waiting for your imput. He bent one knee while shifting his weight to the other leg.
