Am I doing the right thing? Does Jerome really need to die? I pushed those thoughts to the back of my head. I got in my car with Jerome in the passenger. My mind flashed back to us laughing in this same exact position, but there was no laughing now. I felt tears prick to my eyes and I sighed. I can't think about the past.
"So what, Sam, you thought I'd take you back so easy? You tried to shut me down." He looked at me with pursed lips. I didn't know what to say. "Drive. Now." He ordered, pulling out a gun. I sighed and started driving.
"Jerome, I wasn't thinking right." I said, not taking my eyes off the road. The ride was silent for about 20 minutes. I pulled over and Jerome cocked his gun and aimed it at me.
"This is where you're killing me?" He asked, he had deep bags under his eyes and tears threatening to spill.
"No, Jerome." I reached for his free hand. He ripped it away, but said nothing. I rested my head against the headrest and turned my body to face him. I looked anywhere but his eyes. I just started thinking. About the good, simple times. I laughed a little.
"What! What are you laughing about?!" He asked in a voice that said he was crying, he sniffled. I looked up at his green, teary eyes.
"Remember when we first met. You were tied up, asking me if you scared me?" I said, he blinked a few times and wiped his tears. I used my gloved hand to get another. "You excited me." I whispered, he smiled slightly.
"Sammy, why'd you try to bring me and my business down." He asked. Hardly a business, you stole from everyone to buy guns.
"I don't know, revenge for this?" I pointed to my scarred face. "I couldn't believe you'd do that to me." I said, taking my hand from his face. He touched my scar.
"I'm sorry, Sammy." He said, tucking my hair behind my ear. "We shouldn't be together. It's like fire and gasoline." He said, looking down. I knew he was right.
"What, you don't like bombs?" I asked, he chuckled.
"I hated Maddie." He said randomly, I nodded.
"Yeah, me too." I said, he put his hand on my cheek. "We fucked each other up in the last couple months." I said, looking down. "I have some other... News..." I trailed off. He looked at my stomach.
"Wait, you mean..." He started, staring at it in horror. I nodded. He glared and touched my stomach. I'm not showing very much, which is good. It's only been 4 months. "Why didn't you tell me?" He growled, I sighed.
"I thought you'd hate me for keeping it, one. And you ran off with Maddie, asshole!!" I yelled, he flinched. He rubbed his head with the gun.
"God! It was from the day before I left, wasn't it?" He ran his hands through his hair. Then gave me a smile. "How about that for a twisted ending?" He winked, "drive, baby." He said, pointing the gun to my stomach.
"You won't shoot me, Jerome." I said, pulling out and driving towards my house. "Remember when-"
"Don't you bring up Gotham." He growled, he took the gun away as I made a turn. "Really? There's a baby in there?" He put his hand on my stomach. I nodded. I got to an intersection.
"Where to, Mr. J?" I asked, he left out a huff that resembled a laugh.
"Mr. J. I like that." He said. "Your house, joker." He said.
"I think you're the joker here, holding a gun to my stomach. You're crazy." I smirked at him.
"Joker." He whispered.
