In one morning in the vast savanna, a large group of buffalos was gathering at the edge of a river. It was dry season, water was rare in this period of time. That river was one of the last that was still running with water. It was time to migrate, their current land was cramped with other animals who searched for water. Sooner or later their predators would come to their area to seek water. They had no choice even though the trip was risky.

A young innocent male buffalo was running around with his friends, he was so innocent that he didn't know of the danger of the outside world. He was the youngest of his group, usually in the protection of his parents.

His name is Kai, the youngest of all. Playing all day like all child in his age. His mother, Kya, paid extra attention to him. If there was any second that she wasn't aware, his son can be dinner in the paws of the lions.

The leader of the group gave directions to migrate. Their place was no longer sustainable for them. Kya called out for his son, but he can't to be found. She parted ways with her group to find his son. She searched for him near the river bank, but he still can't be found. The ruthless piercing heat of the burning sun won't stop her.

The innocent young Kai was still playing at the river when his group started migrating. Time flies so fast, he didn't felt it was time to go back. Kicking little grey rocks, splashing the warm water of the river. He enjoyed every second of his time, while some figures was watching him behind the tall grass of the savanna with hunger in their eyes. Three lioness have their eyes set on young Kai, hoping to bring food for their family.

A loud scream was heard, Kya quickly ran to the source. Her son was running with a lioness biting his back, the lioness fell but the other two were still chasing him. Kya's heart raced, her mind was bombarded with ways to save her son. She ran like she never ran before, a raging powerhouse out of love for her son. She lunged at one of the lioness, the lioness fought back, biting her all over the place.

The young terrified Kai ran as fast as he can. He was afraid, threatened, and terrorized by the traumatic event that he had just got. He fled away like it was the end of the world, well it was almost the end of his life. The bite mark on his back hurt a lot, slowing down his movements. He slowed down, but he was still walking to find his group. The scorching sun had already above him when he finally found his group. He asked them to search for his mom, but the majority says no. They need to walk fast, and the needs of many was prioritized than the need of one.

Kya never gave up, she attacked them relentlessly. But she was outnumbered, the lioness slowly taking over her. Blood spilled out of her body, she started to feel dizzy. One of the lioness bite her in the neck, giving her the killing blow. The victory goes to them, and their family's stomach won't be starving for the day. Kya died, as a hero, giving her own life to protect her son.

But there was such things as a happily ever after ending in life. Poor Kai who traveled with his group got sick. A devastating infection came out from the bite mark. Day by day, he walked in guilt, fear, and terror. He wanted to go find his mother, but it was useless. His group won't let him, they can't compromised someone else to die. His trauma affected him deeply, taking away his joyfulness and his innocence. A day came when he finally laid down on the ground, blowing his last breath away. Entering eternal sleep in peace.
