I exhaled unwillingly. The car in which I had only encountered a mere few nights ago pulling up cautiously onto my driveway. David spotted clearly in the front seat smacking on a stick of gum, and the remainder of the bunch shoved into the crammed back.

With immense hesitation, I departed my house. Scrambling towards the large vehicle as well as popping open the left door. Heather's eager features coming into view, her hand clasping tightly onto my wrist.

"Let's go!" She cheered, "there's a seat for you in the back!"

I hauled myself inside, grimacing once I saw who my seat partner was. Nick's brown locks blowing carelessly in the wind due to the open window. A sloppy smirk drawn onto his lips, all while he rose his right eyebrow.

"Howdy, Tiger."

Not moving forward, I turned to face Heather. My features falling drastically, "I have to sit by him?"

She frowned, "It's only for a few minutes?"

Not giving me enough time to give her a sluggish response, David floored the car backwards. Me loosing my once sturdy balance as my body hastily flung forward. A soft squeal erupting from my mouth as I collapsed hilariously onto Nick.

His hands sprung upward as if it were a reflex. His palms pressed firmly against my hips while our faces were merely centimeters apart.

You know those red koolaid pouches you would get when you were a kid? Those powdery packets that you could sprinkle into a pitcher of water that would quickly turn it a deep maroon color. Yeah, that was equivalent to the color plastered about my cheeks.

My eyes were bulging from their sockets and my lips were parted slightly. Nick's features mocked mine almost exactly, all while David hissed out a string of curse words.

"Oh my— I'm so sorry guys. I didn't mean to press on the gas that hard."

I released a shaky breath, in which fanned Nick's shocked expression. My heart rate faster than it had ever been before.

"S— Sorry." I shakily choked outward, almost instantly feeling as if I was about to vomit profusely.

Nick coughed, retracting his hands, "It's fine."

I plopped beside him, my palms clammy and my body practically convulsing with nerves. I didn't dare to look at the brunette boy beside me, for I was sure I would go unconscious if I were to do so.

"Be more careful next time, would you!" Screeched Amber, tossing her arms upward.

Heather nodded her head in agreement, "Let's just get on with this."

Without any further conversation, David cautiously departed my house, the five of us now on our way to do whatever we were doing. Whereas I could easily be sleeping right now.

To say the car ride was uncomfortable would be an understatement. For, Nick and I did not pipe into the conversation at all. Not once. We both kept our mouths glued shut as well as our eyes averted from one another. It was painfully awkward.

But, fortunately, the journey was a short one, and we arrived at the laser tag place in almost no time.

Everyone flooded out of the vehicle quickly, me being the last one to depart. And, once I had taken a glimpse at what was standing before me, my mouth graciously hung agape.
