~Two weeks ago~
I was sitting at my favorite spot next to a small river.
My best friend Ethan was sitting next to me on a blanket.
We were shaded under a giant oak tree. "I remember when we first met, we'd always come here and complain that the tree wasn't big enough to shade us," Ethan said.
"Yeah that was thirteen years ago," I said.
He shook his head, "Nope 14."
I shook my head.
He nodded and pulled out his phone and showed me the date.
"What does the date have to do with anything?" I asked.
He smiled, "Today's our 14 year anniversary of knowing each other!"
I blinked and looked at the date again.
June 22.
I smiled and hugged him, "Happy anniversary Bestie!!!"
He laughed and hugged me back then kissed my forehead.
Today wasn't supposed to be a day for fun.
I am actually supposed to be telling him I'm going to a very good college in Missouri in about two weeks.
"Ummm Ethan?" I asked.
He hummed in response.
"Can I tell you something?" I asked.
He looked at me like I was crazy and nodded.
I laughed nervously.
"Umm in about two weeks I'm..." Then I began to cry.
This is harder than I thought.
He's my best friend and my crush.
He's been my crush sense we met.
He became worried, "Y/n what's wrong?"
He hugged me.
"I'm leaving," I said barley above a whisper.
He must've heard because he stopped running my back.
"What?" He asked, his throat barley letting that question come out of his mouth.
I pulled out of the hug, "I've been accepted to a very good college in Missouri. It only lets the top 5% of your class in. And we'll... I made it."
He ran his fingers through his hair, "When are you leaving?"
I said, "Two Saturday's from now."
He sighed and kissed my forehead.
Then he got up and left, he didn't look back.
I began to cry.
~Present day~
I was packing up my car to leave.
I was almost done.
Ethan hasn't called, texted, or came over.
I haven't seen him.
His twin brother Grayson and Y/BFF/n is helping me load the last of my stuff into the car.
Grayson is my best friends boyfriend so all four of us are very close.
"Alright Y/n here's the last box!" Grayson said and put it in my back seat.
